It's not snow. We have 60 degrees here  The server lives ~2 miles from me. The other servers seem to be working fine. I am a member of the LUG, whose server is next to the LFF server.

Awhile ago when the LUG server was having issues, the LUGgers contributed over $2000, which I collected (mostly paypal, but some checks) and then hand delivered the check to the server owner. It was a pleasant surprise to him. He's sort of an unsung hero, keeping all these forums and lists running, without compensation or even acknowledgment most of the time. A genuine asset to the community.

So its a hostage situation? :D

Ha ha. No He spent weekends fixing the server BEFORE the money was delivered. He didn't know it was coming at all. Don't joke about things like that. He's giving service to the community way beyond the "call of duty."

I like the Galli style-, Paper negative-, alternative processes and a few more of the image sharing threads over there but don't participate much in discussions.

...there isn't much that can be done unless LFPF starts to accept advertising and subscriptions similar to APUG.
Yes there is. Wait and be thankful for the vast majority of the time when it's up and running (like now) as a purely non-commercial site. Wait patiently or whine here, everyone's individual choice, but keep it free. In a perfect world, I'd like to see the classifieds gone there too, like it used to be.

It was killing me yesterday. I had to post my two cameras for sale HERE! ARgh!

Ha ha. Lets hope it doesn't go down again. We don't want you to be camera-less now!

I agree completely. The administrators have explained that actually, money wouldn't solve the problem anyway. It's more a matter of the people who operate the site being able to get to the problems in time when they arise. Of course money might make it possible to have a paid staff person to do that, but then you need staff to deal with raising the money, accounting, paying taxes, etc., and the whole character of the site changes. Better to leave it as it is and catch up of film processing during the occasional, infrequent downtime.

It's funny/sad that this thread was started in 2011, and in the interim LFF has gone down multiple times, enough to warrant its own thread. Perhaps we need a LFF status flag at the top of APUG, red for down and green for up?
