It's been down rather frequently lately unless the issue is addressed it'll be terminal. The Moderators need to seize the moment and restructure completely.

Who, pray, will provide a replacement? Joanna Carter?

You know there are pills for that, eh?

Yeah... but the "large format" descriptive would be a lie for must of us. They do have a "safe haven for tiny formats" forum but that's not me either.

Is it something about winter that pulls it down? IIRC freq disruptions around last winter as well. (Firmed up after a while though.)

Yup, it looks like its down again. But if you read the Administrator's thread on probable causes, there isn't much that can be done unless LFPF starts to accept advertising and subscriptions similar to APUG.

its probably the over sized images people are uploading to the server
they've overloaded it and caused it to crash. after all, if you shoot LF
you need to upload 200mb images sized to a imax cinema screen ..
uploaded off of your iPhone or android or there really is no point.

Confined to for sale and the non-LF forum. I find the safe haven and MF B&W images two of my favorites over there. Most LF photographers shoot smaller formats too, and often seem to bring a different style and vision.

It's not snow. We have 60 degrees here  The server lives ~2 miles from me. The other servers seem to be working fine. I am a member of the LUG, whose server is next to the LFF server.

Awhile ago when the LUG server was having issues, the LUGgers contributed over $2000, which I collected (mostly paypal, but some checks) and then hand delivered the check to the server owner. It was a pleasant surprise to him. He's sort of an unsung hero, keeping all these forums and lists running, without compensation or even acknowledgment most of the time. A genuine asset to the community.
