No, he means the Large Format Photography Forum. Perhaps there's a problem with DNS or routing for some ISPs. Or maybe the outage just didn't last long but a couple of people here hit it.

I'm not sure what you mean with "LFF died", but there is no problem with the "Large Format Photography Forum" all day on my end of the internet. I can visit the forum and read lots of new posts today...
Are we looking at the same forum?? We're talking about the http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/search.php?searchid=2392593, aren't we?
Or did you mean the Louisiana Family Forum (LFF) or something else??![]()

Seems to be hosed for me too. Was working fine earlier tonight.
Back up for the last 15 minutes. Down time was around 10-1/2 hours. No indication yet whether it was planned or not.Yep, down again. I hope QT does not give up on the site, he is all digital now...
"The network" usually has nothing to do with Large Format Photography Forum outages. If unplanned, they typically result from hardware issues at the donated server. The network has a way of dealing with excessive negative energy coming from that bunch of grumpy old men.

just for you tweakers:

I tried that and it showed the LFF as being up when it wasn't... Lol

I encourage anyone who thinks members of that forum are grumpy old men to avoid visiting. On the other hand, it would be difficult to find another absolutely free resource with anything close to the level of expertise offered there.
He is? Seriously? So he supports LFF just to be nice to the old film guys... That's kinda cool.
I like it better there, people are nicer to me than here.

Tuan currently does most of his new photography with Canon full frame digital equipment. He, the moderators, Tom Westbrook, who does software maintenance and Brian Reid, who donates the server and bandwidth, apparently provide the free forum because they formerly or currently use large format cameras and/or feel the community is a resource worthy of their efforts. Tuan still breaks out his 5x7 Canham and transparency film whenever a new National Park is created. He's photographed every one of them that way.I think he shoots LF with a digital back doesn't he?...
At your age I'm surprised this is an issue. For the grumpy old men...Is it just me or is it down again?

Wouldn't it be better if the grumpy old men tried to be nice ?

I didn't think you could still get E-6 in 5x7...
Nice is over rated. Bah humbug. Bunch-a-whippersnappers always complainin' about somethin', expectin' everybody to be nice to 'em. Ptui! Who needs it?
It seems a pretty nice place to me. Occasionally people get into tiffs but that's been true on every web forum I've ever been on. It's no worse over there than most and better than many.
Well you can't, but it's pretty easy to cut down 8x10. One whack down the middle makes two 5x8s and then cut an inch off the long end. (Or doesn't Shenhoa or someone make a 5x8 camera for just that reason?)

(*) understand that "grumpy old men" is a very polite way of saying something else.
