Thanks but want to buy from Canadian vendor.
I asked Nicole at Beau Photo if she'll consider bringing it in for us. She might end up ordering it from Freestyle like they have in the past. Ordering from Freestyle is only economical for Canadians if you make a big order from them. Otherwise shipping costs could be as much as the order is.

The latest D76 batch comes in new, sturdier bags, which Prevents oxydation. I believe the next Xtol and hypo clear products will come in the new (same as the “old” kodak eastman) improved bags.

I personally didn’t trust the sino-promise bags.

It is not upon us to speculate but if negatives are to thin @ correct devtime, agitation and temperature you either have a pH issue or general reduction potential problem, which in most cases is an oxidisation problem or a collapsed superadditive reduction system. We improved certain things in XT-III Developer over some competitors products out there. They were costly but we think it´s worth it. The price per film for a developer is to low to be frugal here.

All the bags going forward will be Sino Promise bags, because it is there business now.
Looks like little change though in the fact that the employees who were former Kodak employees, and then became Kodak Alaris employees are now Sino Promise employees.

I maybe didn’t expres myself well.

Sino promise have changed its newest D76 bags. These new bags are the same as the old yellow ones, but they stay white in color.

This move seems to have been made to correct what looked like a possible oxydation problem caused by the original sino promise white bags. The next Xtol batch will probably come in these better bags.

For what it’s worth, I got this from “ProPaperChem” about an hour ago:

“All XTOL replacement orders are in the system and will be shipped. No date for shipping is available.”

Whatever.
They've already sent new product to some retailers (Blue Moon has restocked Xtol), but apparently the end user, who PAID for the product months ago, isn't first on the list to get the new stuff. I don't expect I will buy "Kodak-ish" chemistry again. Far too easy to make what I need at home.

"We'll replace the defective product. Sometime."

It would be difficult to picture a more effective way to destroy consumer confidence than this comedy of errors.

Thanks braxus. Let's hope she does... And the price is decent. I'd like to try this stuff.

I have not tested that, because:
...That has been really a hell lot of work! Most of you here are completely underestimating the amount of work that is needed for such test projects...

Listen, man. I don't wanna hear your whining about how much work or time or effort or cost this has been for you. I just want to sit on my lazy butt and let somebody else figure out if I can replenish this exactly the same as I did for XTOL! :D

Kidding, of course. Many many thanks for your efforts. I would guess that there are many here and in the future who will benefit greatly from your detailed testing, myself included.

I decided to cut my losses with the faulty XTOL (or Kodak world of floaters in my experience) and have just started to use the DS-10 developer and therefore have needed to do some experimentation. No replenishment yet, I'm reasonably happy with 1+1 dilution in my Jobo. Results look good so far but I'll know more when I have a chance to print.

That might end up being difficult. There’s quite a lot of processing chemistry from Europe like Fotoimpex and Moersch, some of it quite interesting, that doesn’t seem to have distribution here, at least not that I know of. I usually have to go direct or buy from the U.S.

There’s a small outfit locally where I am called Argentix, which does stock some of these products, but all the way across the country seems like it might be inconvenient. I don’t know.

I deal with Jacques at Argentix all the time. If he stocks it, I'll buy it! Thanks.

I got the same email a few days ago.
I’m not holding my breath.

The label looks a little vague on times, showing only 3 sets of dev times with 2 mins margins. Is there an actual leaflet on more specific times and times with 1+1 dilutions as well?

Not a problem if in fact XT- III is very close to Xtol times as Kodak info can be used

"The developing times and resulting curves are identical with XTOL produced prior to 2019 and sold in aluminum compound bags."

Probably either a printing error, or having some of the powder undissolved when you make up to volume doesn't matter. I'm going for the latter; the reason to mix in a smaller amount and then make up to volume is because the volume increase due to solutes isn't easy to calculate (and depends to some extent on the water source/purity); as long as you don't expect an exact volume after mixing, and make up to the final figure, starting with a lot less won't do any harm (though you might be well advised to make up the final volume in steps when headed from 800 ml to 5 L).

Then again, the only things in D-76 or Mytol that require a lot of water are the sulfite and borax -- and Adox has eliminated the borax/borates, so it might well be that their 5L packet will fully dissolve in 800 ml of water. If so, storing it as 1L ought to extend its solution shelf life by a large margin (don't forget to dilute 1+4 before calculating other dilutions or replenishing).

The mixing instructions look strangely identical for 1L and 5L packages:
  • Mix part A and then part B in 800ml and add water to 1L
  • Mix part A and then part B in 800ml and add water to 5L
Either this is a mistake, or it really does dissolve exceptionally well.
They have already corrected the instructions. That's my bag of XT-3:

I've been buying from Argentix for 5 years or so. He will ship across Canada and doesn't cheat you on that cost (or any other cost, for that matter). He has a good stock of Adox products, too, so will likely be able to get what you want. You can just ask him.

This package shot was a mockup from our graphics dept. before the actual product was made. QC inspected the labels before production and corrected the copy/paste typo from the 1 Liter stickers. Ofcourse you dissolve the standard way 800 --> 1.000 and 4.000 --> 5.000.

It's interesting that the Ilford company was willing to sell the AgX business to the UK management. I suspect they thought ink would be the big winner.

No, the AgX business was not sold to those former managers, but only the b&w AgX business.

Rollei is a couple of drunkards in a basement with a printer. They'll plaster that logo on whatever tier-3 emulsion they'll find at a nearby estate sale.

With Rollei you mean Maco, who just got the licence to use the Rollei brand for their films and chemicals, and they did so when they changed their portfolio of films.

Please be so kind and name those "tier-3 emulsions" they offered under that brand. Maybe I still can learn something.

Though there's some concessions, as far as I'm aware, Rollei IR400 is *the only* film currently being produced that offers far-red/near-IR in 4x5. It's on a super thin base and lately I've been getting some pinholes with it but nonetheless, it's pretty wonderful!

And there was a receiver involved, was there not, when the Ilford Black and White business was sold to the Harman group?
