In the US it's 13 USD before sales taxes. I don't think it's going to get cheaper.

£14 is probably as cheap as it's going to get, at least in the foreseeable future. If that includes 20% VAT then it's considerably cheaper than Ektachrome is in the USA.

135-36 no 16mm yet. Sorry for the confusion.

The catalog lists 16mm perf. B at 60 USD for 100 feet, 240 USD for 400 feet. This is an introductory price buying direct from Kodak. Availability May 9 2019

Back in late 2018 the information I had was that they were hoping for some initial availability about now, but given their experience with the 120 backing paper problems they weren't going to hurry anything.

Since they still produce 120 C41 films , I wouldnt see the backing paper as an issue.

You will recall that the backing paper problems revealed themselves when they closed down their capacity to produce their own backing paper, ran out of the Kodak manufactured backing paper and then had to source new backing paper from third parties. They put that new paper into distribution without waiting for a sufficient time to ensure that unexpected problems didn't arise over time.
They didn't do that for long enough when the backing paper was changed, and they and their customers suffered. They don't want to repeat that with Ektachrome.

If you can find an OLD optical Auricon, and it's vacuum tube recording amplifier, and get them refurbished, one can record optical sound on 16mm film. Scanner maker Jeff Kreines, posted this scan from a very damaged Kodachrome original to demonstrate his scanner, and the scan shows the soundtrack. (he has software to process the soundtrack and extract the audio)

Some 16mm Sound projectors are not 100% effective at playing back a color soundtrack that was not specially treated in Processing, a service that has probably completely disappeared.

Write up probably should say 16 to24 FRAMES a second. 40 frames to the foot in 16mm.

Matt, they did allow enough time. It was the bizarre series of keeping events and the spotty nature of this problem that caused the problem.

We probably differ on semantics on this.
They allowed enough time to deal with the normal and reasonably predictable types of problems.
They didn't allow enough time (and real world tests) to deal with the abnormal and previously unpredictable types of problems.
All of which makes them extra cautious about even appearing to have released product too quickly.
Or so I am told .

Believe me, this one was very unusual and the "normal" tests are quite severe. It would have been revealed but now, they are super cautious.

Indeed. It´s not a high-speed-camera, but runs at 16-24 fps.
On the other hand 16-24 feet per second would allow for excellent frequency range... ( )

Well since they have rectified the issue with the paper on their other films, I would assume it should be fine with Ektachrome too?

Different chemicals react differently and that is the problem many of you don't understand. The tests will have to be done for each film and condition.
