It’s not Meyer’s problem, it’s THE problem. There are likely many who simply won’t bother because the hype isn’t being fulfilled. I, for one, did not put money out for a promise of an eventual product delivery and I’ve almost entirely lost interest. Slides don’t have much utility except as nostalgia... so my current attitude is, “why bother”.

Are you having good success and enjoyment with your cache of New Ektachrome?

New Ektachrome is identical with the E100G we all know. To me there is a difference less than between different emulsion numbers of the old Ektachrome. So it is the same Film. And it is of course real "neutral" from color ballance. So it is not like the E100GX (or the old E100VS...:whistling:emulsion).
But I shot at this week an other NewEktachrome 100 film I got from a friend. Not more. And because I have 2 professional
20boxes still in storage I have no reason to buy the film now.
That is indeed a problem I did not realize till now. So many ordered the film but no one got it meanwhile?

Right (not at this time) - because there is no need for :kissing:....
But if I had not been : Kodak's interim bankruptcy would have been 3years earlier.

At least you got so try the new Ektachrome... It will be quite some time, it seems, until I’ll even have a chance if that. But I suppose December will come sooner than expected so maybe the wait won’t be too painful.

As I said (but pls. don't tell others about) it is a real total normal film. There is nothing special with.
The issue what makes New Ektachrome such precious isn't the amazing characteristics of this film
(this is definitivly not to tell to others) because Kodak made no improvements from that emulsion.
Amazing is how Kodak is able to produce this emulsion in 100% identical characteristics after some years of that break. So they might be "modern alchemists" ? If I refered about difference wich is less than a difference between two (different) emulsion numbers I just found an other desciption for :
No V I S A B L E difference. But what the general characteristics depends (no grain - max.resolution -
2004 some Film magazines asignt E100G 180lp/mm) is the film of course one of the best ever in E6.

So the issue what makes New Ektachrome such precious is that one can't buy it any longer from
2013 on (last seen on EBay within exspiration date) and that pricing of some EBay gangsters was around 19 buck's for the amatheuric version "Kodak Elitechrome100" wich was official priced at the end sales at 8bucks.

But now one can buy it again (hope it will also been shipped.....:whistling:)

with regards

Sooo...Kodak launches new film (P3200 and E100) and we're complaining that it's the wrong time of year or it has sold too well and some orders are backlogged.

Only on Photrio.....

Not stated that some hate any E6 threads special if it comes from Kodak. If you today mention that
Kodachrome was a good Film with nice characteristics you should care about your car will not be burned during night.
If that will happen you have no must to tell the police who is suspected - they definitivly will know
that crime should have to be caused by apug members.
"Your car have been burned this night - show US please what you have posted at last" is a standard
sentence police officers lerarned at acadamy:whistling:......

with regards

PS : If you're telling on apug that you find that or that Fuji Film real nice others may not burn your
car because the issue is not so dangerous in comparison to Kodachrome. But then your
cat may be murdered !

Within the whole net it is common sence : Photrio is a danger zone :ninja:

Good point. I guess I should be happier about things I don’t need and can’t get.

Not a complaint on the timing but more a remark on the awkwardness of it from a marketing perspective. Like a LOT of film photographers who shoot landscapes, I shoot about 80 percent color in the leafier seasons. My total film shot on the winter months drops markedly and about 80 percent of what I shoot is black and white as the natural landscape reverts to drab tones of straw. I’m certain I’m not the only one who has these sorts of trends. To compare An eatery employing good marketing practices doesn’t promote a “new” menu introducing Soups and Pot Pies beginning in April and another new menu introducing Salads to the menu in November if they are following dining trends.

What I am irked about personally is Kodak promoting this release, saying that it’s shipping to sellers, and then going to one of the FIRST vendors to offer the product the DAY it is first offered and placing an order for presale and then NOT getting anything from this first batch. Part of that may be due to the seller I chose (maybe they gave preference to larger orders, preferred clients) but I recall NOTHING in any of Kodak’s marketing stating anything about quantities being limited to where few would actually get their orders fulfilled, and having vendor orders split to where the second follow up fulfillment is weeks and months later. Some vendors are now showing availability only after 12/31! Even Lomography will tend to clue you in if quantities of something are limited but Kodak seemed to indicate that once the shipments were made, that outlets would be readily stocked.

So while yes it is nice to see the demand emerge for the new film, I do feel that posts stating this is nothing but positive or that Kodak has done the best marketing are missing the mark.

There is a downside, if people bought into the hype and want to give this a try only to have to shelve it for months when it finally arrives to them thus dampening their enthusiasm for it.

And not anticipating your market, and not having adequate supply of your new hyped product in enough quantity to meet demand and then suddenly having to push back stocking dates of your first orders by months does not constitiute good marketing. It may “work” for cutting edge electronics to some degree, but this is a film niche that certainly needs to turn people on rather than off.

I will stay the course but will others?

I'm sure none of the Ektachrome was sold directly from Eastman Kodak to any of the retailers.
Instead, like all other Kodak still films, it was sold first to Kodak Alaris, who then filled orders placed by distributors, who then filled orders placed by retailers, who then filled orders placed by customers.
Each of those parties had to estimate likely sales and then commit to orders based on that estimate.
I'm very glad to hear that one or more links in that chain didn't estimate high enough.

Even better, you'd think someone would post some examples of the film on here. Like 'Hi! I got a roll and had it developed at a 1hr place. Here's the scans'

Nope. Only the C-41 positive guy has posted photos.

Talk talk talk talk and no-one shoots.

1 hour places still exist? I haven't seen one in a decade.
The E6 lab I use regularly offers more than one run per day, and will always provide same day service.
But I'm not sure I have ever seen 1 hour E6.

There are plenty of examples, just not on Photrio yet.

As for one hour E6....I've only seen it in my kitchen. No lab I ever used offered this though some did do a 24 hour service.

It’s been 5 or more years since my favorite lab offered 3-hour E-6 service. I enjoyed that for much of my adult life. It was great but it is no more.

I know a C41 1 hour place which does a daily E6 run at 17:00, I believe. If you go there at 16:30 you'll get one hour service.

If it's anything like the previous Ektachrome I'll try a roll but I'll probably stick to Fuji Provia 100F because the new Ektachrome is about the same price and I really like Provia.

I think that there used to be a place in Hull Quebec called "La Centre de Diapo" that came close. they only did slides.

My first job, used ETCO photo in Montreal to process Customer film, if you sent them Ektachrome or Anscochrome (yes it was that far back) and go oit into one days pickup, it would come back the next pick-up. While Colour Negative took them 3 Days. LONG TIME GONE

Honestly I have no clue. I'm a on the edge of age where people shot slides. I never shot them myself. The awesome photography store downtown here does not do E-6 the machine broke and they can't repair it, however there is a Mom 'n Pop joint that does.
