I can’t see why Kodak wouldn't price Ektachrome competitively. They already do it with black and white film...

So when do you think we can actually buy Ektachrome 35mm film? Would Kodak offer processing as well?

You just have to wait - and don't come into panic!
What the pricing belongs to - I told a bit about - just have a look.

I don't want to wait forever. I do have some time but my time is not unlimited.

You can't hurry love. No, you just have to wait. You gotta trust... give it time no matter how long it takes.

We don't even know what the new Ektachome will look like. What are you hoping for?

I hope it looks like Ektachrome 100 in 2010. I only shot Kodachrome and when they discontinued Kodachrome I switched to Ektachrome and actually liked it (it wasn't like the Ektachrome I shot in the late 70's).

If it's as good as Portra, I will be in line. I do love Provia F. Kodak color negative films blow me away. No reason to think Ektachrome II won't be just as nice

This I agree with. If they do as nice a job with their Ektachrome as they do with Portra and Ektar I am definitely in for a few rolls at least.

In the Kodakery podcast from November (which was all about Ektachrome), the Kodak people said they were making the new film to conform to the existing specs. So the new Ektachrome should look just like the old one.

In the Kodakery podcast from November (which was all about Ektachrome), the Kodak people said they were making the new film to conform to the existing specs. So the new Ektachrome should look just like the old one.

In the past Kodak have shown (so as all other manufacturers did) - with each new "improved" emulsion the quality of the new films came higher and higher.
Sometimes the differences were small (remember Ektachrome 100 S/SW
versus Ektachrome 100 G/GX).
But generally the technology of making films is within advance from period to period.
THE last Kodak E6 films (2012) we remember represented the technology state of the art in 2002/2003.
So we definitivly can expect 2018 a higher and better characteristic in regard of smaler grain, long life stability and reciprocity !!!
This in comparison to last Ektachrome AND in comparison to remaining Fuji E6 films.
But the general color look of the new Ektachrome is indeed the same as we know from Ektachrome EPN/EPP/100G.
That means it is not the same as we have
in mind from E100 - it is more in the near
of EPP (most experts saw NO difference between both films in the past)....:D:laugh::wink:
But the films wasn't the same from color characteristic.
By the time look at Kodak campaign started a few days ago :

I think there is one in this very thread, earlier in the many pages. Otherwise, I don't keep track of my posts.

Sorry.

I am getting old and I don't think you're young either. How many years do we have to wait?
It doesn't matter. Ektachrome will return, or it won't. The price will either be reasonable, or not. The film itself will either be nice, or it will suck.
No number of threads and no amount of handwringing is going to change any of this.
Look at it this way - if another Carrington Event occurs next month, will Ektachrome matter?
