And it would be great if Ilford got back into the C-41 film business.
They might reintroduce their Dufaycolor

The last time I used Kodak film, TMY, I encountered an entire pro pack of 120 with backing paper problems. Two rolls had no adhesive at all at the end of the roll to tape the thing off, two others had the adhesive, but it was only stuck to the backing paper by the tiniest little bit--perhaps 1/4" (hard to describe in words alone). But that wasn't the worst offender--the fifth roll had its tape somehow come off completely while inside the camera during winding. I wound up with several frames on a subsequent roll that had splotches with no exposure at all, because the scrap of tape was in the path from the lens to the film.It is the main reason I buy it. The performance is impressive but I would be happy with ILFORD films if they could ensure good results, i.e in principle a solution to the backing paper mottling problems.
I almost forgot: several months later, while making my way through that same stash of film (I think I bought about 8 pro packs of TMY for that trip), I encountered mottling and splotches on one roll like I've never seen before or since. More than half the frames on that roll were unprintable. There were splotches in seemingly random locations all over the roll--in some areas, it was as if they forgot to include the emulsion! And, as it happened (of course), these things only occurred in areas of smooth tones--in other words, they stick out like a sore thumb and there's no point in printing those negatives. Fortunately, this was only on one roll and not an entire pro pack, as was the case with the backing paper problem. It is the main reason I buy it. The performance is impressive but I would be happy with ILFORD films if they could ensure good results, i.e in principle a solution to the backing paper mottling problems.
The 5 pack of Tri-X at B&H went up only 7%. This is not bad at all in perspective.
Try golf.Considering I did over 14% in the market last year, I’ll not lose any sleep over that price increase.
I figure that those on these forums are either professionals who are then looking at passing on increased material costs to their customers or hobbies to who do it out of interest and love. I have been in the latter group for almost 50-years and when I started I was limited by my meager income as a Spec 4 in the army. Today, I am quite comfortably retired after a career in public education and have acquired all the hardware I’ll need, and just have to pay for the cost of film, paper, and chemistry. Compared to my other hobbies, the cost of photography is minuscule and I rarely consider the cost. If I want a certain film or paper, I simply buy it. Compared to my vintage cars, keeping a collection or reel-to-reel recorders working, or my other passions, photography barely makes a mark on the budget.

Practically every casual picture-taker (as in not photographer) thinks that film is extinct.
I don't think that old style advertising and public relations is even seen by most of the people that might sat "they still make film".It keeps them in the public eye. How many times have folks said, "they still make film?" Well, Kodak wants the public to be aware they are still in business and they still make film. Just in case someone becomes interested in buying some.

They don't watch broadcast TV, they don't read newspapers, they don't read magazines, and Instagram and Facebook are so "2000's".
What do they do, then? Pray? Are they monks?
I agree but unfortunately, I still watch TV. Not so many magazines or newspapers anymore. Also, there's social media, forums, etc. More time wasters.Don, as someone who hasn’t watched television in over 30-years, nor do I subscribe to a newspaper or read magazines, I can tell you that a whole other world opens up when those time-waters are eliminated from one’s life.
What does this have to do with anything?
Who is "we?" You previously claimed to have me on your ignore list, Paul. How about putting NB23 on it too? Or would you "peek" anyway just like you sneak looks at my posts? Not nearly as tired as we are of listening to your self-destructive cynicism.

Furthermore, everyone is here wasting time staring at this webpage - where you will notice Kodak does not advertise.
Kodak stopped advertising after the Salt Lake City Olympics because they found that spending money for advertising did not help sales.
They stream content, and spend time on entirely different parts of the internet than we do.What do they do, then? Pray? Are they monks?
It may have been a response to me.somehow the quote got erased, I suspect a manipulation from a mod.

By the way, your "we" does include me.![]()
