I found this in an article about the Ektachrome announcement:

I don't know. The statemant I posted above was made by another person a few days before they announced they were investigating Kodachrome.

Or maybe the episode of Kodakery referenced in the Petapixel article was prior to the Ektachrome announcement, and they decided (wisely) on the Ektachrome?

Well, it is far and away the more rational and useful choice, even if some of us might like to dream. I'll be happy just to get a good Ektachrome again.

We can't please everyone, that's why my list was trimmed down to a reasonable size, with reasonable film formats.

What they SHOULD investigate is something that everyone will love to play with and develop at home simply and easily: black and white film with integrated filters like autochromes. That would get people into developing their own film and be a chemically simple process. I believe polaroid did this with their polavision and "instant" developing slide film. I would love to have an autochrome type film available. Making a film like this would be way simpler than any kind of proper color film.

Sounds like Grammas special avocado dip. When she dies no-one will be able to replicate it. Except people that have avocados. And kitchens. And dip. And the cookbook from 1937 that had the recipe.

Some of my colleagues built up black art skills in reverse engineering electronics systems in the past. BUT, this wasn't to reverse engineer competitors products but to perform updates to items in OEM support where the original project team had all moved on, the documentation was never kept up to date and/or there was some special tricks in there that only one or two people ever understood. Please, no. Not that. Economically and strategically, I think a Kodachrome 100 in 135 format makes the most sense.
