How did you get the background to be out of focus?
I would assume the camera picture was a lens-based shot.

@KC2PED I have been making a list of links to shots on the WPPD site that particularly caught my attention. I already had yours listed as "Spectacular interior shot" without knowing it was an APUGger! Nice work.

They are not paper sculptures, but exotic shells from the Maldives. They are heavy and very, very frail, each with one long 'tentril' and are a member of the cone genus of shells. My initial feeling (other than being spooked by the cool, dark and dusty place) is that they looked quite strange up there, but I warmed to it. I wanted them in the picture (they do live up there on top of the piano so the cat and the dog don't come to grief with them!) to add mystery and interest, and they work well in lieu of the owner of the house not having a song book to rest against the piano lid to complete the image.

I think you are referring to the color image which was made with my PHD digital camera so it did what it wanted., not that I had any control over the B&W pinhole image other than exposure.

How did you get the background to be out of focus?

Thanks Dave, but I think "spectacular" is a bit over the top. It isn't even level.
