Currently Ilford have a new post up on their social media (at least Facebook and Instagram)....just the message "Something is coming 1/12/2022 4pm"

So I guess we can expect some new product announcement tomorrow at 4pm? No idea what this could be but they seem to have all the obvious B&W film, paper and chemical bases covered. So I'm not expecting it to be a new film.

My guess would be something that lowers the bar for beginners, something that makes it easier to enter the world of analogue photography and/or darkroom printing. I also do not expect a new film or paper.

good thinking. Ilford are reaching out to young newbies via social media so you may well be right. They already do a starter package of Ilford/Paterson equipment to begin developing film. Maybe another useful package/bundle where they've linked with another brand to bring something in one convenient box?

I'd prefer that someone, anyone, would please offer the whole kit and caboodle. The negative developing is pretty easy to learn , what w/ help from youtube videos and us. But analog photography is really about putting prints on the wall.

A simple but decent 8x10 print enlarger shouldn't be that difficult or expensive to make. Offer newbies that, along w/ a basic timer, a $8 red bulb, thermometer and some trays and tongs. What else do you need besides the chemicals and paper?

When someone has to buy old, expensive, questionable (and not complete) enlargers on CL or eBay, it stops the whole process dead in it's tracks. It's not fun at all, it's aggravating and risky. Which is why a lot of folks just stop at the film developing process. It was that w/ me for a long time.

A darkroom or an Ilford darkroom tent and a room to put it in?

New increased prices.

Whatever it is, I really hope it comes with a detailed data sheet!

It's going to be a film that, after endless speculation, intense investigation and very serious testing, will turn out to be repackaged CatLabs X film 320 Pro...

I hope it is Ultrafine Xtreme 400. They will say, "It was made by us, all along!"

Data, Data, Data, everyone always wants more Data. Problem is so many don't know what to do with it once they have it.

As we have seen in the CatLABS thread, not everyone wants more data. In fact, some of the brightest minds of our generation participating on Photrio wanted no data at all. The dullards who wanted more data, however, did seem to know what to do with it.

Half of Ilford's users think Ilford has lost its marbles with the dd/mm/yyy vs. mm/dd/yyyy.

I work for a british company and just assumed the date was Dec 1st. Is it Jan 12th instead? :D

Nevermind, just noticed the date. 😖

dd/mm/yyyy sorts better. Most of the world uses that convention.

Maybe....Centennial Printing-Out Paper! ( I'm having the pavlov's dog reaction just typing it)

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned Santa Claus. :whistling:

My thoughts as well... But a sheet film version of D400 or Pan F would be a pleasant surprise! 😄

It's going to be something like a new duffle bag or film holder or something inane.

Of course, the return of Ilfochrome!

Nah, it's probably just a new disposable camera with FP4+ in it.
