I don't think it's Delta 25 or HP6++ because we'd surely have heard about that being beta tested. Kentmere in 120? Possible. Something previously unavailable in sheet film? Possible. 220? Highly unlikely. I also don't think it's something as mundane as an Ilford branded duffel bag. Though i did see a young woman at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland last night not only shooting film but wearing an ektachrome hoodie. great advertising. Ilford apparel coming to a store near you?

dd/mm/yyyy sorts better. Most of the world uses that convention.
The best for sorting is ISO8601 - yyyy-mm-dd - (which we use here in Sweden) which sorts correctly if it is a numeric data field, but also sorts correctly as text, which neither the UK or US methods do. The US "middle-endian" version makes no logical sense at all.

Aside: I lived in the US for many years working as a software development manager, and I forced all my coders to use ISO8601 for their code comments

I'd LOVE to be 50 years younger. Those films would be great to have back, too.

But gas at 29¢ a gallon? I WISH! In Canada, gas is sold by the litre; current prices in the Ottawa Valley are around CA$1.50/litre. At current exchange rates, that would be about US$4.13/US gallon.

Here's a link to a response I made to a post, March 2008: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threads/agfa-time-machine-now-boarding-track-2.37167/
Here in Sweden I am currently paying the equivalent of 8.50 USD per US gallon for diesel, a bit less for petrol. 🥺

It's probably just their 2022 advent calendar.

I think that the advent calendar would have already been available. This time last year it was already sold out. I know my wife got me one way before christmas and she later told me several retailers she tried had already sold their stock.

A word on the "12 days of film". It was tremendously good value, every film they offer in 35mm (Ilford and Kentmere brands) 36 exposure plus some extra goodies such as stickers, a 135 cassette opener etc....for considerably less than the retail price of the films contained in the package. It'll take me a while to find a good use for the Ortho 80 and IR films but I eventually will. I've shot Ortho 80 before and have some ideas.

Though it's worth noting that this afternoon's announcement is in time for Christmas. I still reckon it's something people new to film would benefit from, as it's on their social media which is where the hip kids hang out.

I've been waiting for around 14 years for the re-introduction of Harman Direct Positive RC paper . . . . . . . . . The second coating run failed and had to be scrapped. The issue was the emulsion is essentially the basic B&W direct reversal emulsion for the Cibachrome/Ilfochrome paper bases.

What are the social media sites where the hip kids hang out? I checked out the Ilford page on Facebook and there were a lot of comments from (if their avatars are any indication) old guys like around here. There were two unremarkable comments on Ilford's page on Instagram. A Google search on "Ilford" and "Something is coming" returns this thread at the top of the heap with nothing else following. We must be the hip kids.

We have a very old Christmas tradition in the UK of factory closures and redundancies.
Could they be keeping it up?

😟

Hip kids are on YouTube and TikTok. And although nobody says "hip" any more, I wish for a generation willing to going back to calling themselves "cool cats" 😎.

I didn't see anything on Ilford's pages on TikTok or YouTube about their announcement that something is coming. Maybe no one has had time to make a video about it yet.

I was mimicking Agulliver's anachronistic use of the term "hip." Does this mean "hipsters" are out too? Way too much to try to keep up with.

Hope they got a chance to reformulate the emulsion and got it right.

40-year coder here. I'm with you!

Same here, like pbromaghin, I’ve been writing code for many decades (back to the 1970s) and the ease of sorting makes that format a no-brainer. On a project I am currently working on, I receive files with dates embedded in files names and sometimes they appear to be entered by a random number generator. I have to write extra code to covert them into the ISO8601 format.

While I shoot Ilford and Kentmere films in 35mm, and am happy with both, Kentmere in 120 will be something I’ll take advantage of.

B&H now lists Kentmere Pan 400 in 120 for $5.80/roll. $1.20 cheaper than CatLabs 320 :-/
