Apparently, that's a question one needs to ask of a potential Hasselblad purchase too. How many people in this thread have said HB's don't like sitting?

At least it's a fraction of the price of a HB - the amount at risk is fairly low.

It's hard to use the waist level finder with a paperbag over your head so no one knows what you're shooting. 😅

$300 down the drain is not negligible. Worse yet is if the camera fails during a shoot.

I've been exercising my Blads today. 2 of the 3 electric bodies are working great. The third is destined for the great parts bin in the sky. That 3rd one has really been used up, have nothing in it. I love these cameras.

So we have found the ultimate use for a Hasselblad is a doorstop?

As the title of this thread states... Sirius Glass, stay out of this! 😁

Did you buy a Hassy? Did you get several backs and several lenses? How do you like your new camera compared to the other MF(medium format) cameras you own ?
I have only heard wonderful things about Hasselblads.

Just a FYI. If it's the motor that's dead, the EL-series can be converted for manual operation.

In context of repair/reliability viz Hasselblad, another point occurred to me today.

Starting with the Hasselblad 501C/M and thereafter, they introduced a coating material called "palpas" that was used internally in the body as well as on the barn doors on the side facing the film back.

There was/is a known issue with the palpas cracking badly. I have a 501C/M that has this, whereas my 500C/M does not have the coating, and hence the problem.

According to everything I have read, it seems that palpas is either impossible or very difficult to replace, BUT ... it seems not to matter. The cracked coating appears to have no effect on image production.

If you absolutely want to avoid this issue, get a 500C/M which never had the coating in the first place.

Thanks for that! The camera I'm after is the 500CM.

The 500mm C I can't handhold at all. It is absolutely a sturdy solid tripod lens. The 350 C T* works great handheld, I used to use mine a lot at outdoor Rock concerts. 400 B&W Fujiroid was very helpful, the instant prints freaked the youngsters out. Now I have the CFV16 Digital Back so no messy expensive 'roids. Now I am starting to use my single exposure back and holders/stuff, the 500C/M is so tiny when using it with 6x6 sheet film. It'll fit in a jacket pocket.

The biggest advantage to me is the sheer number of accessories available with Hasselblad, nobody else is even close. You can custom create your shooter to your personal specs and desires. And it's not that expensive if you are patient and persistent.
