One thing I’d suggest, is to do your best to reassemble it before putting it aside. I’ve learned the hard way that the longer something is torn down, the more likely parts will get lost and make the final repair 10 times as difficult. (There are several motorcycles in my garage that wish I had learned that lesson long ago...)

Well that's why I never started tearing my motorcycle apart when my head gasket went bad. It just sits there because I can't afford to pay someone to fix that either.
.
I already packed up the various camera parts into ziplock bags, so it should all remain safely in one place until I find time or money, or someone finds it when I die.

I remember tearing into a Jaguar 3.8 MkII trying to fix a cylinder with a cracked sleeve.
The car sat for close to twenty years and sold for fifteen times what I paid for it in 1998 as-is basket case.
I think it went to Japan.

I paid $15 so my Kalloflex is already worth 15 times what I paid for it.

Pentax AP (original Pentax) for $15 at estate sale here in LA: Lens is 58/2.4 Takumar.

Near mint condition but shutter wouldn't cycle completely. Was easily fixed with a few drops of naphtha.

I sent it in to Mark Hama today...hopefully I'll be able to afford whatever he estimates. Not looking to spend a huge amount but would really like to get this working.
Hopefully good things come to those who wait!

I had mine about a year before I finally took it in locally for a CLA. Well worth it. It's a really nice camera to use. Operationally, I might actually like it better than my mid-40's Rolleiflex. Optically, I honestly don't know that I see any significant difference.

I think if I ever get a real chance to use it regularly I will like it as much or more than my C330. I hope I get that chance, I love the design.

VERY different animals! Both great cameras but it's kind of hard to do any sort of 1:1 comparison.

Darn. The shutter is knackered. It was working at first, and worked through the first roll, but then it went tits up and doesn't open when I trip it. $175 for a CLA alone, so I might have a fine looking paperweight.
Send it to Ross Yerkes in LA, it will work like new when hes done with cla, way worth the $175. Better yet sell it to me for $50 and I will have it cla'd . Worth doing not a lot of them around.

And oh how I wish I had just left it sitting there and never started taking it apart...nothing but trouble on top of more trouble, searching for one obsolete part after another and then breaking them.

On the bright side, rumor is that I may get my Kalloflex back this summer so I'm excited about that...but will believe it when I see it.

Hey Wayne. Just curious to what happened to your Kalloflex? Was Mark able to get it all fixed up? The Kalloflex sure is a beauty.
