Try to find a Hermes 3000 or a Olympia SM-4; they are the Cadillacs of typewriters...

There's an SM-7 advertized locally that I keep thinking about...I dont think anyone else will buy it but I dont want to pay $30. I know its supposed to be a great writing machine too but its also rather ugly to me. Not quite modern, and definitely not vintage looking. But I still think about it...

We're still waiting for a pic or two from the original roll  . There's a fellow on the Flickr , Kowa (six) site that has many photos taken with his Kalloflex .
Looks like a very capable camera ! Peter

Great idea! I just got the rolls developed a few weeks ago and hadn't even looked at them yet. Now I wish I hadn't. Looks like things went awry from the very start, starting with me. I shot these handheld and it went from bad to worse to blank. Thats the case intruding on the lower part of the image. Guess I couldnt see that on the ground glass. Looks like there are other issues here, and clearly I need to hire a new photographer who uses a tripod lol.

Now I know why I got it for $15, or whatever it was. On the bright side, my C330 works fine.

I took this camera in for CLA to a local camera repair guy who is getting up in years. That was almost a year ago. Every time I call he says he hasn't had time to put the camera back together. He said it would be ready by February. Last February. So if he is telling the truth, he took it apart and it has sat in pieces ever since. The guy has always been quirky so I was frustrated but not all that worried

But now I am worried and starting to get pissed off. I think he is not answering my calls on purpose now. I don't know that I have any choice but to go park myself on his front porch until he puts my camera back together. I can't imagine the police would be of any help. They might tell him to give the camera back, but it probably will cost me at least $200 to have someone else put it back together. It doesn't appear that he has a valid business license anymore so applying pressure on that is probably not going to help.

That's very sad to hear... It might be worth just getting the camera back in a box and sending it off to someone reputable like Mark Hansen (Zeiss Ikon Rollei Repair) to put together. I know he likes odd TLRs and his prices are reasonable.

That's really frustrating; not only is it in pieces, but you didn't get to see how it was taken apart...

However, don't despair too much. I once bought (or was gifted, can't remember) a Yashica D that had largely been disassembled and arrived in plastic bags of parts. It took a bit, but I was able to puzzle it out, cleaning as I went and wound up with a very nice camera that was fully functional and only needed new leather.

It could be an opportunity to really learn how a TLR functions!

Now he says he will have it put back together by Monday. I'll bet he doesn't do the work I brought it there for him to do, if he even puts it back together.

Well, you never know. Since it was taken apart, it's a good bet it's cleaner than it was when you sent it, but only inspecting and using the camera will tell the tale.

Made by the same folks who made my Komaflex S! I wish 127 film were cheaper; I'd spring to have my example repaired.

I sure as hell hope he cleaned it while it sat in pieces for a year, but I'm skeptical I'll even get it back Monday. I think the only reason I'm getting any response from him is because I emailed him and said I was going to send him the bill if I have to have someone else put it back together.

I feel your pain. I've dealt with quite a few camera repair people who became a nightmare. It's a strange business..

Well, that's bad, but it's not hopeless. Doesn't look like he got far enough into it to make reassembly impossible.

It's a pretty basic TLR and they all go back together pretty much the same.

Yeah but it hasn't been fixed, so putting it back together doesn't get me anywhere. When I stopped by to pick it up he kept saying he could fix it in a couple days, but he only had about 300 days to do so. I don't think he's fully compos mentis anymore...and being in his 80s I thought if I left it any longer I might never see it again.

What exactly was the problem? I never got a real sense of what the issues were in your prior posting.

Here's a long thread on the Rangefinder Forum about the adventures of a person with a Kalloflex. Seems he wound up sending his to Mark Hamma back in 2012.

https://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-106520.html

The camera is a desirable camera and worth fixing, but I know it can get expensive.

You might have to put it on the back-burner for a while, but don't give up on it; it is a good camera.

Good luck!

Its been so long I don't clearly remember. I know the shutter was acting up, IIRC it just stopped working sometimes. Then there was the edge issues in the film, that I pictured way up above in post 29.

I contacted Mark Hama last winter, he said about $200 with shipping. I don't have $200 to put into this camera, which is why I took it to the old guy...

Going back and looking at the color images, it looks like most frames are double exposures with a slow/sticky shutter. The blank frame with vertical bars appears to be light leaks along the channels of the back; probably needs new black yarn in the channels.

Logically you can:

1. Set aside, gradually save the money to have it repaired by someone else and concentrate on another camera for the time being.
2. Buy some tools, make careful study of similar TLR repairs online and attempt the repairs yourself.
3. Sell it for parts/repair.

Yeah I'm afraid it is going to go on the back burner where it will likely stay for years.
