I general do not walk around carrying common fruits, vegetables, or household items when I am taking photographs, so why??
So that people who have yet to purchase one of these cameras will be able to get a real world idea of their respective weights. For instance, an N80 could weigh three apples, two spoons, and a stick of butter (unsalted). See how helpful that would be?
A more practical comparison would be to double or triple scoop ice cream cones or cups of hot fudge sundaes.

Seems like a decent lens. Vignettes at 35 with a filter though. Kind of a bummer. Nice range, though I think I'd prefer something more like the 24-85.

Great catch! Add that in too. And make it a 36 exposure roll and UV or Skylight filter.
Who uses filters?
I do.
Lots of time at the beach. And I find it way easier to clean a crappy UV filter than to clean the front element of the lens without leaving scratches.
And I use those metal Soviet cans when I bulk roll.
I'm guessing I have the heaviest of all N80s. By at least 10 or 15 grams!
A decent filter is more expensive than most of the lenses I use on my N80…
You've probably noticed that it's not uncommon for eBay sellers to include filters since many are just getting cameras from estate sales and don't know anything about them. I've gotten some nice ones that way.
I bought a nice Nikon zoom at a flea market for $1. Because it had a cracked filter on the lens, and the seller thought that was a part of the lens.

Filters- If I have a hood I won't use a filter. Most of the time though I shoot black and white so I almost always have some type of filter on the lens, usually red or orange or green or blue or yellow.
I prefer a UV filter to a lenscap. I hate lens caps with a passion! Especially on cheaper lenses that I don't care about. Gotta be a good coated filter though. After three decades of this, I have a large stash of filters. They used to be super cheap in bundles.
But I'm not a baller like Huss. And I don't look like Brad Pitt either. Lol.

The lens is worthy of even a B&W!Nikon 28-80G - $20 via ebay. And some have recently scored one for less by getting it attached to a 'less desirable' camera.
