Just don't get them mixed up!

Maybe get one in silver, one in black?

More seriously, I've taken to sticking a piece of artist's tape on my cameras without a film-box holder and writing a note. I know there's a little window to look in, but I sometimes load portra and tri-x and trying to read which is which through the little windows isn't enough.

N75 for color - it is silver
F100 for black & white - it is black

Both are black here (F80), thanks to the film window, i see very well, which one is currently APX 100, and which one is Pro Image.
I used to shoot the F80 a lot, the F100 a bit less so, but into contrast, i've learned to appreciate my cheap F60, very reliable...and its often quite
enough...better grip than the F80.

The N75 has a trim ring that broke off. I should have saved it and glued it back on. So the N80 is in the bull pen warming up to relieve the N75.

Speaking of neck straps on used cameras....This is what I did with the straps on my N80 cameras. They were too nice to throw away.

Tea, actually...a connoisseur can tell a film camera strap from a digital camera strap.

Digital straps brew such an unsatisfying blend. Yes they steep quicker, and you get more servings from one strap. But there is a satisfaction from waiting that much longer, and being more careful with the brew knowing you will get fewer cups out of it.

With the straps from digital cameras, I found they are either really good or really bad. It is like all-or-non. Nothing in between, essentially binary...

I bought an N80 on ebay on the 25th and I'm really wishing it would get here already. It's been 4 days now. I've got the alcohol ready to tackle the sticky bits which it was listed as having. Hope the camera is is good working condition aside from that. I want that camera now. Right now.

Enjoy! While you wait for the isopropyl alcohol to dry, imbibe a glass of dry white wine or a gin martini.

Good suggestions for sure. I have no gin on hand so that's out, though. I do have half a bottle of local Lost Draw Arroyo Blanco that could fit the white wine bill. But...I think a good Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA will get the nod since I hear those calling to me from the fridge.

I was two-for-two getting 100% functional cameras, the cheapest I could find on eBay; $10 and $15 (though both with known broken latches)

The N80 came in. Sticky body as advertised but like-new condition otherwise. I cleaned up the body with alcohol gel and then put a light coat of Ballistol on it. It shines like new.

It is a bit larger than the N75 and feels very good in my hands, not that the N75 ever felt too small. I'm super pleased with it. Of course, it looks the deal in black. Too bad I don't have the 28-80mm lens in black, but I do have the 50mm in black and put that on it. It is an exceptionally good-looking camera with that combo.

It focuses very quickly with a very light touch of the shutter release. Wow.

$21 for a camera like this is a bargain. Please stop me before I get a backup and a backup for the backup.

Nice!

I did have to pay 'top dollar' to get a black lens. I paid almost $100 for a like-new-in-box black N75 in with black 28-80, AA battery pack new in box and extra insert new in box and remote release in box...no strap though!😝

lol! It's nuts how good this camera is, let alone how stooopid cheap it is! I have two, and still am looking at getting more - not because I need them - but because they are so cheap!

Congrats! To me the size is perfect. Not too big, not too small. And the feature set is everything you need with none of the goofy stuff.

That's been my decision-making process with the N75's as well as a bunch of other cameras that now sit in my closet. It is real real hard for me to pass up a good deal even when I don't need it.

You're correct about the N80. It's a near perfect size and weight - at least with the 50 or 28-80 on it.

I've already noticed some differences in the feel of the controls between the N75 and N80. The N80 definitely feels more like a pro camera; it feels similar to my D200 in build quality. Nice.

I just tried out my Nikkor 70-300mm AF lens on the N80. The 70-300 works but I can't hold it steady enough to be useful. I need a tripod for it. Wouldn't an N80 with VR be nice?

Yes, I have been using my N75 all week and the wheel is smaller and a little harder to turn to the left when holding the camera one handed. The wheels on the N80 feel more like the ones on the F100 and F6. In fact the wheels are a little easier to turn than the wheel on my F6.

Looking at them side by side, it is not so much the wheel is thinner, now I see the N75 wheel is set into the body making it harder to turn; there is less wheel exposed to the thumb.

The AF rocker on the back is also better on the N80. The one on the N75 is very stiff and hardly moves.

There’s also no wheel on the front of the N75’s grip. Again, the N80 is more like my D200 in that regard.

One big crappy thing that the N75 can do is wind out all the film on the take up reel and then wind it right back into the cassette all in a matter of seconds. I have one N75 that did that and I can’t remember which one. With the N80, I don’t have to worry about that.

Also w the N80 vs N75 - the N80 has a dedicated meter pattern switch, w the N75 I had to custom set the AF lock button to also act as a spot meter etc.

But to be fair to the N75 - when these cameras were sold new, the N75 was much cheaper than the N80. The problem now in the used market is they cost the same, so the only reason to pick an N75 is size.
