That meter I bought was EX+. They had a deal with a prom code of MONDAY where you get 50% off on all accessories and the meter was one of them at $82.

You got ripped off, COL... 41.50 isn't 50pct off of 82!

The last few weeks at KEH, I got 20% to 50% discounts on:
Hasselblad C 500mm lens
Hasselblad 2XE extender for the above lens
KR1.5 86mm filter for the above lens
B+W Circular Polarizer filter for the above lens
each a separate purchase and free shipping

KEH has been impossible to get ahold of with their recent sales/insanity. They told me they're processing 1500 orders a day and are quite behind. Some of their inventory has vanished completely. This kind of a mistake could easily be overlooked, and speaking as a retail professional, that price is fair and square. If an item has the wrong price tag on it, "retail rule" is that the seller honor that price. This may have been pointed out in previous posts but I think this is totally legit, and congrats, those GS models are sick. You may have even bought the one I sold them a little while back. Wish I never let it go.

Great to hear. That "retail rule" has not yet come to Germany. In that sense photo-dealers still have to learn a lot.

I find this hard to believe, AgX. In Slovenia, at least in brick and mortar stores, the price listed on the shelves is the price the customer pays even if the cashier register shows a higher price. I'm sure the same policy applies to online purchases.

In the UK it doesn't matter what price they put on the tag in the brick and mortar stores if it's a mistake they can alter the price at the checkout, also if a customer switches the price tag for a lower one from a different item he can be prosecuted for shop lifting.

If that (price tag switching) happens here, and you are charged with theft, you will be acquitted. (see R. v. Maurer).

The correct charge is the much more serious charge of criminal fraud. And if you are convicted of criminal fraud, you are likely to receive a much heavier penalty.

I can believe it, but they didn't make their life any easier by dropping prices literally overnight. They had used cameras with a 20 percent discount on Friday so I ordered a replacement for my dead Mamiya 645. On Monday they put used cameras at 35 percent off -- a $30 difference in the price I paid (originally $180) for a camera that was still in their shop, probably still on the shelf, so I called and said "Hey dudes, what's up with this?" and they were very nice and adjusted the price.

But still, an addition phone call from a sale already made had to add to load, and I got the feeling I was far from the only one.

They would rather take a greater profit reduction and keep a good customer.

There's an online camera store here in the UK who when they are uploading new items on their website the price is marked as FREE! It stays like that until they have finished amending or uploading items for sale.

I once seen a Rolleicord TLR marked this way, worth approx £300 but knew it was obviously incorrect. I put the camera in my basket for curiousity and the price was £0 + delivery.

I didn't continue with the purchase as I knew what the error was.

... so how much did they end up selling it for?

Here in Canada (at least outside Quebec) a price on a price sticker, or ad, or presumably an internet listing is known as an "invitation to treat". It is essentially an invitation to make an offer at that price. The contract is only made when you offer to buy at that price, and the store accepts that offer.

Same here in England. Once they have accepted your money, it's yours. Up to that point, the offer can be withdrawn.

Of course, they could always claim that they had lost it and refund your money. Nothing is really certain until it is delivered.

I have to add: over the last few weeks I've had several orders with KEH, as I took advantage of their sales, perhaps in excess but those discounts were unheard of. I had a couple issues come up requiring more than one exchange and they have been super accommodating. Not to mention the glass I purchased on bargain condition looks flawless. I love that company. Don seems to be one of their best reps, I get him a lot, always has good advice for me.

My "great deal" on a Minolta Autometer III" I ordered from KEH turned out to be a dud. It looks just as they described, EX+, but it woefully underexposes by about 5 stops and there appears no place to adjust for it. I guess I need to write them.

They will offer to fix it or take it back. Ask for an RMA so that you do not have to pay for shipping.

It's a super nice looking meter and had the box been with it you'd be hard pressed to distinguish it from a new one but just way off on it's exposure. Most hand held meters have some sort of null or adjustment-this one doesn't seem to.

Yes, it's a new Duracell 28L-same as the L544 mentioned in the instructions.

New does not neccessarily mean working. Though I have not yet had a new battery failing. But testing with a battery tester, not a voltmeter, would be a good thing to do.

EDIT:
Your meter has a low-battery warning.

Yes, they will take it back and pay the return shipping. Super folks to deal with. In this case I can understand. They check it cosmetically, maybe put a battery in it and verify that does read light, changes when pointed to a brighter and darker area, and put it up for sale. I can see they wouldn't have time to check the calibration of every meter they sell.
