I would definitely give this film a try if it was available in 4x5.

On the Maco site it says "No stock. Expected date of delivery 20 February 2018", which would be tomorrow.
So maybe check back then, keeping in mind some possible time shifts (I assume they'd put in new stock on their site during the German working hours?)
You realy got it - P30 was offered by macodirect from the alpha batch - after this macodirect listed this film as
"temporarilly not avaible" it was "sold out" from reasons we all might know.
But now it is avaible again! ! !
So hurry up before the complete 2.production run of P30 is sold out.
You might see the day this could happen
:whistling:.......
But no panic folks this is not the case today:D

with regards

Just looked and they are showing stock with a 10 roll maximum order, (Firts time I looked it was 20, so that is probably the reason for the on-again-off again availability.) nevertheless, something tells me that folks in Europe probably should not tarry if they want some. Pad your order out for what else you need.

The good news is that Ferrania is selling tons of film and this is a good thing if there is plenty of demand, hopefully with 120 conversion happening, we will see more film available.

Just checking now.

EU Shop - Sold Out.
US/Canada Shop Temporary sold out.
Asian Shop, No longer mentioned.
Best Practices file still at version 2.0

My facebook memories page today mentioned that I had shared the post about the "signature" from Film Ferrania, showing the 3M Ferrannia edge print from the Positive movie film perforator.

looks like its still selling out fast, hopefully their 120 line will be able to fill the gap in the market, since they cant make 135 fast enough

"and It's getting more and more absurd..."

Friends - what is going on? I told you Feb.20 : "Hurry up" pls. look above!
Why did you not hear this?

with regards

PS : From my point the full 2.production run isn't sold out :D......
But the demand on P30 seams to be very high - no wonder to me because it isn't the worst emulsion we have seen these days
So pls. when P30 is avaible again next days - don't wait to long if you decide to need this film.
Because you may see the days when P30 is sold out - but this case isn't the case today - no panic :whistling:

with regards

PS : They might have shipping/delivering delays to Ferranias shopping centers - because a manufacturer would not sent the full production via shipping outside his contry the same day.

In case I missed something, is Ferrania still planning on introducing an E-6 film, or are they permanently sidetracked onto black and white film?

I wish them luck either way.

Alan - In case of fairness we may give the people of Ferrania the chance to count their money first when the second production run of P30 is indeed sold out?
Perhaps we should ask again in a couple of month (when a third production run of P30 is on its way) ?
So look at Kodak now. Why they copied Ferranias procedure (with Tmax 3200) ?
I would not be a guy of a group of guys with my 100% private money in a such kind of unclear business.
But I am allways not a hero.
Same is with you Alan - I speculate.?
with regards:wink:

TMZ is indeed a surprise and I'm curious to the specifics of PE saying it is a possible byproduct of the Ektachrome R&D (as P30 is from the E6), surely reformulation related. As P30, TMZ's formula may have required little tuning for churning out a batch in this way. KA saying it may come in 120 I don't really know.

I'd give slack to Ferrania because it isn't an easy endeavor, small factory and small team. They require adjusting production and P30 is a good product for that, given E6 is more complex. The possibility of 120 soon(tm) is good and hope to give it a try as I'll delve further into B&W later this year.
Perhaps ironical that the small sized facility turned out to be too small at the moment!

I expect that the part of the "Ektachrome R & D" that may have been most applicable would be their efforts to downsize production run sizes, while still maintaining quality and profitability.

My understanding is that they have more than enough film making capacity, it's just that they can't get it into cassettes and boxes efficiently enough.

Maybe 30 meter bulk rolls could help elleviate the problem of packaging.

From what I have interpreted of their statements, it is a goldilocks problem. they have (dismantled in Storage) a 35mm packing line that 3M ferrania used when they were selling private label colour film to 1/3 of the world drugstores. the machine can pack all they film that they can make in a month in a single day. BUT the cost to get it installed is quite high as they would probably need structural and electrical work to find a place for it in the LRF building. they can't afford to install it. they are using a contractor to package film who is unwilling to devote more than a small part of the contractors capacity, which limits the amount they they can send out. (alternatively the contractor may just not have a lot of capacity)

They last said that the 120 packing line might be a less intensive project to reinstall. (120 was never as big a product in the hay-day if 3m Private label business) and they are "working on it"

Selling Bulk rolls may have a lot of waste as the rolls they are cutting from are fairly small. PLUS they probably don't have a way to edge print frame numbers on bulk rolls. as I am not sure of 3m EVER offered Bulk still film.

I am sure Dave B will have an update by the end of the month

They still are on E6, i think Dave said they will start testing this summer.
BTW they arn´t really sidetracked by P30. They needed an easy to produce emulsion to test the coater and the finishing line - and P30 came out that well they decided to put it out.
P30 is clearing the way for color - they test all the equipment with P30, which would be way more expensive/inefficient with color.
Its usual to test the equipment with a B&W emulsion - not to put that emulsion out off course - but what they are doing is almost standart procedure.

The problem with Ferrania is always the same: they don't have the required money to make a factory producing like it should...

the kickstarter was fairly modest for what the eventual plans call for, But the delays in getting stuff approved probably put a crimp in their budget

Ferrania does not sleep, they rather suffer from sleep deficit caused by all the problems they had to overcome.
Kodak is $$$ so its no big deal for them to bring a B&W-film back - and the E100D allready has been delayed.
...and the announcement of their new S8-camera also has been a while ago...

...and btw we don´t know how long Kodak has been working on bringing back TMX3200. They announced it when they were done with it - that´s a little different from what Ferrania did/had to do.
