Hello APUG from FILM Ferrania (PART 2)

Danke für das Update.

Thanks for the update.

It looks like Ferrania may make it after all. Looking forward to their restart, and hopefully before long some P30 and some E-6 will be mine.

Great to see another update Dave!
I also think making the coating room a clean room is a good move, this is something i always questioned why it was not such a sterile area like what we see at EK.

Is there any possibility of the 127 cutting room being used to cut other manufacturers color film for 127 format on a contract basis. I know you don't want to cannibalize P30 sales or future E-6 sales, but seems like it might be an opportunity to generate a little extra revenue.

Wondeful news: higher volums of production with better quality.

It's this kind of announcements that give me more and more hope. Rather than "rushing" toward E-6, Ferrania is aiming at a sustainable and solid growth path. I'm confident the firm will soon walk on firm ground with an assured space in the market. E-6 cannot come before the firm is solidly anchored and economically sound and safe.

In most ways, the coater room is already a cleanroom - but since it was only used for research in the past, it was never necessary to go all the way.

We're simply taking a final step to make it official.

There is a possibility, yes - but not until we are able to grow our factory team to a size that will allow for taking outside contracts.

yes, I can see that . If you are just shooting a grey scale, to plot a graph, you just close the probe of the densitometer away from the Dust spots.

It is now 24 hrs since Kodak and Kodak Alaris jointly announced that Ektachrome is ready to ship to dealers, so I am surprised no-one has commented here yet.
I suspect there will be comments once members have had a chance to actually use it.

There are a bunch of comments in separate, Ektachrome threads here on Photrio.
Including a bunch of comments about prices.

Hey guys, did you notice that Kodak provides its customers with a Technical Data sheet so that they do not have to guess how to use it?

FILM Ferania did post a sheet for the e6 film they are aiming for, and unlike Kodak they are letting us try their Test coating of P30. (kodak only released the "final" version of E100)

Still it would be nice if the folks in the north of Italy could find a copy of even the Cine version of a classic P30 Data sheet. perferably in english of course, even if they had to black out the "3M" marking if any.

Kodak released a "beta" version of the new film to select users. Kodak always gives Technical Data Sheets to customers.

Ferrania also gave a best practise sheet for P30 and they updated that several times.

A "best practices sheet" is not a technical data sheet. It is crowd sourced development information from random guys developing film in their bathrooms, just like the massive development chart. Zero sensitometry.

I do suspect that Kodak MAY have more than 12 people working on the Ektachrome Project, Probably including an assigned Technical Writer. Film Ferrania does not currently have that Luxury.

Its not a data sheet, but people didn´t have to guess how to use it as jonasfi suggested. Some of the random guys didn´t use their bathtub for development but had a real developing laboratory.

Entitled?

Jeez....if a data sheet is that important please feel free to do all the lab work and create your own.

Yes, Kodak has data sheets generated back when they had what PE describes as a "technical writer department". Film Ferrania are 12 people working in far from ideal circumstances, probably working all hours they can in an incomplete facility. Perhaps in time they will have the funds to pay for a technical data sheet to be created, or the facility to do it in-house....but right now they simply don't have that. They're doing everything they can to get into continuous film manufacturing. Isn't that more important?

Real developing laboratory? You mean a darkroom?
