I like the results im seeing here.
Is anyone else finding the scratches on their film?

Im guessing it was just limited to a few rolls in the first batch.
Probably happened during the conversion stage, unless there was something wrong with a roller on the coater.

I had a very bad scratch on the emulsion side of my last film, but I suspect it is my fault non handling since I wound it by hand for testing.

Yeah, i always find i see scratches on my film when I get back from the lab also, i expect its bad handling at the lab or the camera is doing it.

As promised I have finished the scanning and below is a link to the album of the shots with the Canon P developed with Pyrocat HD and shot at 40iso
Most came out good, although there were a couple a little dark but overall I am happy
I have 3 more rolls to play with and try to make them last until a new supply comes out

The film is panchromatic. I can't quote the numbers off the top of my head, but Marco and Luisa have found that if the Ph of the developer (or even the water) is beyond a certain range, there can be a slight reduction in red response, but even then, not enough to classify the film as orthochromatic.

Which is very helpful, since it means that a successful exposure/processing combination anyone works out using the initial batches should work for them on future batches once full production is under way and we can get more P30.

Oh, and I forgot to answer your first question... I've had a chat with the Photographer's Formulary and they seem interested in making D-96 so you don't have to synthesize your own. (Which reminds me to follow up with them!!)

That is bizarre. The exposure is already made and your comment suggests that it regresses? Wow!

the reason I was wondering is that the film itself resembles the colour of the older ADOX / EFKE films from way back, which were considered Ortho-Pancromatic, (having a unusual red response) and as the colour of the film is depended on the dyes..... (as usual I don't know what I am talking about)

I've never heard of ph affecting a film's spectral sensitivity. Is this true??

Possible, but in my experience only before exposure. Also, it can affect exposure after the fact and this was used in Kodachrome, but only by retaining red sensitivity not losing it. It is not normal in this case though.

This means that the latent image selectively decays only in those parts that were hitten by red light? It is the first time I hear something like this.
Even if 90% of users probably don't care, I would still like to have "official" curves for the film, so I can make the best of it. It would also remove all the confusion about red sensitivity (and in my case, reduced red sensitivity is a feature and not a bug).

I'm just relating what Marco Pagni passed along to me regarding the questions about red response. Perhaps I'm not passing on the info correctly. I'll double-check.

Is there anyone who still believes that Ferrania will ever produce positive color film? They have not even been able to make the next batch of P30 in almost half a year...

If they will ever make a colour reversal film that won't happen in the foreseeable future. (But if you even think so, you will be labeled as "heater")

No wonder I can not find a retailer, was hoping to try P30 for myself.

I'm afraid that the novelty of P30 will start to pass, if we can't even buy the films readily. And in reliable and consistent quality, rather than the feeling that we are still dealing with an experimental product.

Looks like the new online shop is about to reopen soon. Anyway, as far as im aware, they are trying to make as much P30 as possible to keep a good amount in stock.

I was a backer but still have no way to buy film. I get less-and-less hopeful for Ferrania's future.....sadly not their fault, other than, perhaps, their sights and hopes were set too high.
