Maybe something like this..
F. We are looking to initially procure 100k rolls of 200 iso colour film to fill gap in us /eu market. Plus possible follow ons in 50k blocks, upto 500k
EK. Whats the spec?
F. What can you offer. We need a 200 iso colour film, to replace c200- 36 in 3 packs. This would be the ideal.
EK. well we can do you one of these 3 emulsions, a, b or c at these prices, with first delivery in 6 weeks or bespoke as per ideal, bespoke will be 6 months plus r&d cost at your risk.
F. Looks at samples , Well B fits our price / quality expectation,.. haggle over price and delivery dates do deal
F. photo engineer, looks like gold 200, never expected to see it in a fuji box though..

The Harman Phoenix information was given to a select number of individuals, retailers and competitors that have influence and reach to get as many people aware of the upcoming product

Smaller shops will not have been informed of this. I can confirm that the product was 100% invented and made by Harman as I work closely with them. I have had the postcard since October now.

It's nice to see speculation! Gets the interest and the infamous Photrio debates flowing.

What do you expect? It's a forum of photographic enthusiasts. It's not a film industry summit.
Yes that my very point which is why I included my last sentence in my reply to Matt as follows: "Little point in us continuing the "courtroom joust" in terms of it getting us anywhere. I feel"

Did you mean to use the word competitors?

Can’t believe someone hasn’t leaked it yet. My belief in humanity is strengthened.

The image suggests they are forming a metal band, and that is a sufficiently different business that Ilford can't stop them being Hårman Phötø.

Sælling Fønix film!

“Hårman Phötø” in Danish/Norwegian sounds something like “Hairman putt-putt island”. Which I guess is pretty metal.

Yes. Some major retailers in the USA and Germany that have their own chemistries and films - this would make them officially competitors too but they have the full details like I do.

Actually someone did on a Facebook group last night... Good thing I spotted it early and that I was an admin! 😅

FWIW, the retailers know what the announcement is for, but they are under an NDA, so cannot say anything till Dec. 1

Not every retailer in the world...only the ones sent the postcard and the "product". Some retailers were chosen to receive details, presumably those who are in a position to blow the trumpet for Harman on 1st December.

A small, independent shop with no ties to any manufacturer, no ties to KA, is not going to have received the postcard or any info. The reason they are telling me the didn't even know about the phoenix until I mentioned it isn't because they've signed some NDA....it's because they are a very small fish who didn't actually know anything about this campaign.

It must be very tempting to leak the info, but anyone working in the profession is hopefully going to play along and keep quiet.

I have to say though, if this is merely EK toll coating for Harman in the manner they do for Lomography....I shall not be impressed. That is a collaboration in my book, and the most important part of the product would not have been manufactured by Harman. I like the Lomography CN films and use them....but they're really Kodak in disguise. Might as well say that Prinz-Color wasn't a collaboration with Ferrania, or Boots Film wasn't a collaboration with Fuji. It makes the word meaningless.

Ok I see. I was thinking Kodak, Fujifilm, etc. which was making no sense to me.

You are doing a pretty bad job at keeping the lid on the thing. AND I LOVE IT!!! 😃

So, it's basically a film and/or paper and/or chemistry. No renaming or similar nonsense as some speculated...

That has seemed likely ever since it was made clear that a physical product has been given to some individuals and dealers along with the postcard, and that Harman intend people to test this product in the run up to December 1 when they can tell us all about it. The "Harman Phoenix" trademark registration is also a bit of a giveaway.

For a while it looked like a possible rebrand from Ilford to Harman but it is now clear that there is a physical product (or products).

Ilford/Harman does not care about us apperantly, because they aim at the "new" Instagram influencer generation, so feel free to share it with us 🙃

Maybe it's a portable toilet addition for their Ilford Changing Tent. Wasn't that their last "great and mysterious" product release?

Hmmm. Brian could be full of it, or flush with insight. Either way, I wouldn't pooh pooh the idea.
