Gee- you guys are ahead of me, I'm having an enlarger alignment problem that is hanging me up...we have till the end of June, right?

It has been like that, I went out over the past two weekends trying to find something new and fresh and still don't like what I have. Went through the negative files yesterday and found a good negative that I have not printed (or even looked at) so it will be the one, just need to get the printing down.

Plus, the water out of the tap is already at 72 degrees (F) - not to bad when printing, but hard on film. Looks like a long hot summer (NOTE:Texans always like to talk about the weather - we are just that way! )

OK. After changing my mind about the prints for this exchange I got the new ones printed tonight and they are currently on the drying screens.

There is a slight chance that they will make it out by the end of the week. If not they WILL be out early next week.

For my prints mounted at 11x14, I have been using Priority Mail boxes from the post office. I seal the ends with the print sandwiched inbetween and mail it flat.

Brian, I mailed tow of mine this way and one with the box folded up properly. The properly folded box cost 2.21 to mail, where as the flat box cost 3.75. These were the boxes for sale at the post office.

BTW you should get your print soon as they went out on the 25th. Same goes for mobtown_4x5 and David Goldfarb.

Prints are drying. I'm going to have to send unmounted prints this round, as I'm leaving town for a few weeks tomorrow and won't have time to mount before sending them off.

OK, mine are going out this morning, I have received three prints, so I guess I'm last...(as usual) sorry about the delay...

Brian, David and Larry your work is absolutely wonderful! I figured I would be lucky if I really liked one print from the exchange, but as it turned out- all three prints are going up on the wall!
Really impressive. I don't usually respond to others' B&W work too much or throw praise around- but these are really outstanding images.

I am finishing my new darkroom. Plan to get the prints done this week or weekend. I am really MOTIVATED!! The darkroom project has been a "work in process" for over 18 months! The print exchange will be the first project since I've "Come out of the Bathroom"!

Cheers,
Geary

The Prints are in the Mail - as they say...for the folks in the group, Thanks for waiting and looking forward to your work (dlin - yours is already here).

One point, this took all of a couple of months to get ready for me, I'm thinking maybe every 3 months (4x's a year is still 12 prints) - anyone else?

Good Light.

Hi All,
The building inspector did the final approval on my darkroom construction today!! I am in the process of moving all of the equipment, etc. to make the space a functional darkroom. The enlarger is wall mounted. The sink, cabinets and counters are built in, but I still need to get everything else down to the darkroom. Could not do so until the final building inspection and approval. The prints will be the first project.

I received dlin's print. It is wonderful! I am excited to receive the others. Sorry to be running a bit behind!

Cheers,
Geary

I know there was some discussion earlier about how to ship, would be curious to here what most ended up using. With 16x20 options dropped pretty quickly..

I've received a couple of great prints form Ole and Nige - thanks guys.

Unfortunatly the last month has been chaos for me, so I'm running a little behind. I had hoped to get something nice printed today, but the results were disapointing. Don't worry - things are settling down and i WILL get something out in the next week or two. Sorry for being so late.

I find stubborness doesn't always help. I just got home from the hospital and having a tube drain my lungs. If you get this nasty virus that is going around, do not try to tough it out and think it will go away. Of course I blame it all on Michael (blansky) who is the viral mirth carrier. I got sick a few days after meeting him. He is toxic and should be met with copious amounts of medicial preservatives imbibed.

So guys in group one, I still have to send out my pictures. I meant to send them out by the end of lst week, but didn't quite make it. I will get them out. Just make sure they are irradiated before opening. Kill those damn germs.

With the first exchange wrapping up it's time to start thinking about the next one.

I will assume that all those who participated in the first one will also be in the second one.

If anyone on the list does NOT want to be included in the second one please let me know.

Anyone wishing to join that was not in the first round please post a message or send me a PM and I will add your name.

Groups will be drawn around around July 30 and prints can be sent anytime between then and September 30th. This will give everyone two months to get prints done and shipped.

Does that sound OK?

Leon... I hope that you can make it this time :D

Yup, count me in.

Just a word of caution to folks sending prints across the Canada/US border.

Please mark the photograph as a gift, with a value of $0. If you do not, and declare a value, the receiver will be assed both 7% sales tax and a handling fee ($5). While not much, it's still more than I like to pay for an exchange, especially considering that shipping from Canada to the US is relatively expensive, if you want to get it there in less than a year :D

Thanks folks.

Like Ken M, I sometimes have problems with mail from abroad.

But Norwegian Customs doesn't believe in "$0"... However anything worth less than NOK 200 (USD 25) is exempt from both VAT and handling fee. So "Gift" and "$10" makes life easier (and cheaper) for me!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Jeremy will be in the next exchange.

Because he can not do "traditional" film work any more (I think it has something to do with allergies) his print will be an alternative process print produced from a digital negative.

I have no problem with this and told Jeremy so. But if anyone does NOT want to be in Jeremy's group send me a PM and I will make sure that you are not.

Thanks!!

Jim
