I purchased tyvek envelopes hoping that would protect them.
A stiffer mailer to outside USA mailings would significantly add to the weight, and cost. I have to check with Brooks to see where he gets his mailers from, and how much they weigh. At least I didn't mail them in a thin plastic bag thingy.

Just got my copy this weekend (I was a late subscriber). Beautiful magazine. I am VERY pleased. Read it cover to cover while enjoying a nice evening on my building's roof and a couple of beers.

One (not) serious question: Is Alan Ross out to be published in every known photo magazine within a 6 month time period.

FWIW my copy made it to England in perfect condition.

Another late subscriber here. Got the magazine out of the PO box yesterday. Some really inspiring images there. As one who fumbles through monthly production of a simple text newsletter for a local art club, my mind boggles at the thought of attempting to produce something with such fine reproduction of images.

I look forward to the next.

Just subscribed!

From all the good reviews here I decided to take the plunge and subscribe! I hope I can still get the issue #1 since I'd hate waiting until issue #2 (months! egad!) :surprised:

Ya know Tom, I was scared shitless that no one would like Emulsion after it was printed. I fully expected to get a lot of negative feedback. Ya'll have to stop making my head swell. Or at least figure out a way to make my thinning hair grow back like it once was so that is the reason for a bigger head.

It couldn't have been done without my good team, and the members of apug who have supported this project. Now the big boys are climbing on board to advertise. It just makes it more stable and eventually will pay my good team members. Who said analog publications were dead?

Aggie,

I'm am hoping and praying that you and your team have caught a tiger by the tail! You're success is our success

After a too long (six or so year) hiatus I came back to photog shooting about two years ago.

I actually bought a digi-P&S at first because I had been so long away I didn't know what was what!

It took me about a week to get real depressed and then pull out my old Nikkormat FT-2 and search for some film!

Hey, I ain't no stupe. I know that film is never again going to be the "work-a-day" "image caputre" medium for the commercial pros. And I fully understand that your average snapshooter will be quite happy with a digiP&S or even just a digicamera.

But when I returned to the fold I was shocked that every "mainstream" photog mag was trying to be "modern" and had all but abandoned film. But then again, given where their ad money comes from - it was obvious what they were (are) doing.

So there has been a "hole" in the photog publication firmament that Emulsion is now filling. I'm hoping you get really successful and I'm also hoping you'll show some 35mm stuff and (really pushing here) hoping you'll also show some color - if not just for me, than for Rob Teague! :D

As need be, there will be color and 35mm work. Issue #3 is already slated for closeup/macro work. Most of that today is done with 35mm and is alos predominately done in color. Issue #4 the travel one will have lots of both mediums of color and B&W. I won't exclude anything except where at all possible digital work. There is one article in the up coming issue #2 that due to the poor conditions where these people live (outside the USA) the purchase and use of platinum makes it expediate to guarentee that the best possible first run print can be made. They opted for a digi enlarged neg from 120. While I would rather see them enlarge negs traditionally, it was a choice on my part to let this group showcase their end result even though the middle was a digi enlarged neg. Of course you know I will have to make a trip to their country and teach them how to enlarge the old fashioned film based way. I just don't have the time at present. You will also see the great niece of one of the worlds leading non photograhy artists showcased in that issue.

WHEW - it came about a week ago - and boy is it a nice magazine!

It is rare to see such a well put together periodical - especially about photography. I especially liked the technical article. Compliments to those that produced it!

I look forward to finishing it and issue #2!

Okay, something had gone wrong at Paypal (I made the payment, but Emulsion didn't receive it. Thank you for nothing, Paypal...). All is fixed now, so thumbs up to Aggie! Looking forward to receiving my first Emulsion magazine!

The glitch on paypal's end is due to a special processing they do to certain transactions. What happened to yours Jacco, was it was the next transaction following one of those specials. So yours when it came in within a minute of the other one, got hung up as well. Being married to a computer geek (IBM) he called paypal, and talked to them. Good thing is, he knew how to fix their problem for them. Now if he would just fix my computer when it has problems.

But nothing happens until now.

Is it difficult for you guys to send Aggie a Private Message to see if she can explain what might have happened or what might be going on?

It is pretty simple, click on Aggies name and a drop down menu with magically appear with several different options, just scroll down to "Send Aggie a Private Message" click on it, put a Title in the little box above the big box and then let here know what is going on, in the big box, hit the send button, and as if by magic, I bet within a few hours you will have an answer from......Aggie letting you know if there has been a problem..

Pretty simple course of events it seems to me.

Dave
