I am happy to see the project funded, especially since anything coming along for the 5x7 (13x18) format is a great thing to me. Started out small now, but probably need more holders eventually.

Now, I need to either find another camera, or figure out how to make a stop-gap dry plate holder for the 4x5" camera.

Here are the latest solid model renders of the holders. Another couple days’ work and the design will be shared with the mold maker for final review and feedback.

I also have some weight information, approximate at this time but fair to accurate to within +/-10%:

8x10 holder: 230g empty. 600g loaded with 2 plates
5x7 holder: 110g empty. 267g loaded with 2 plates
4x5 holder: 71g empty. 160g loaded with 2 plates

Despite the light weight, the design of the holders ensure the rigidity necessary for photography. It’ll just be easier on our backs/shoulders.

Holders have begun shipping to backers!

Once they are out to backers, I'll be adding feedback that I get from them to my list of improvements to make -- hopefully good but I'll take any bad -- and start working on getting them available for retail sale!

Is this only the larger sizes? I've not received any notice that my 4x5 holder has shipped.

correct. The 4x5’s needed to be redone. They failed to add a light-blocking mod to a part so the mold had to be redone and parts remade. The shop was also assembling the light traps incorrectly on the 4x5’s so that was corrected as well. Those corrective actions have all been done and the 4x5’s are currently being reassembled.

As the larger holders are done and packed, Steve and I figured it’d be better to get larger holders out to those who only ordered 5x7’s and 8x10’s rather than just having the shop sit on them, so those have gone out.

The shipping labels have been generated and I’ll send out tracking #’s when I get the word that 4x5’s have started shipping. Rewards which include 4x5’s should start going out in a week or so (shop owes me an update on their progress).

Check the last couple of updates on the campaign..I wrote down the thought process on that decision.

The rest of the production run arrived yesterday! Will be sorting and inspecting, and expect to have these up for retail soon.
