Foma 200 is fantastic, probably their best film. Similar spectral response as Trix, excellent long straight light with tiny shoulder.

Some batches have been known to suffer from soft emulsion problem. People, sadly, use this film to 'test' their 1950s folders or TLRs with rusty rollers that don't play well with the soft emulsion.

Newer batches are much improved and make Trix or other overpriced overseas film largely redundant for most amateurs.

No testing in some old 50ies Camera. I used a Mamiya 645 Pro TL. Batch was from 2021. I agree about the look. It s nice. But rusty rollers just doesn’t apply here. I got 5 different backs, so no, this is not just a one-off problem

What's the batch number? Problematic batches are known, and Foma replaces them without any fuss.

Foma 200 in 120 is terrible. Got 10 rolls, not even one was free of little black lines all over the frame. Foma 100/400 are better in that regard, however for what a Foma film gives DD-X is too expensive for me. With Foma I use HC110 or Tanol.

probably true, because cheapest film benefits the most. However, HC110 is not a bad developer, I think

I've shot with Foma as my walk around film for years, never had any off the issues others seem to experience, maybe just the luck of the draw. I shoot a lot of Foma 400 in 4X5 and MF, no issues with pinholes at all. When processing Foma I use a very diluted stop bath, stock 1:2. It does tend to be on the grainy side, but I can with that in 35mm. I also shot a fair amount of Ultrafine EX, wish it was back in stock.
