Yes, if you look back through this thread you will see some comments. This was developed in Beerenol, shot at ISO 25.

The Recipe:
Beer (cheap Lager, I used Pabst Blue Ribbon) - 12oz
Sodium Carbonate (Arm & Hammer Washing Soda) - 2.75 Tsp
Ascorbic Acid Powder (Vitamin C) - 1.25 Tsp
Salt (Morton's Iodized Table Salt) - 1/4 Tsp

Developed at 20 degrees C for 20 minutes. Agitate first 30 seconds then 15 seconds every minute.

Warning - Add the Ascorbic Acid after the Sodium Carbonate to avoid a foam explosion.

By the time : Does anybody know if P30 is still avaible - or let me ask : how long does it last if we are allowed to order this film?

If your talking about the alcohol I used to develop the film I am not currently being pursued by the ATF. If you're referring to the motorcycle in the photo it was burned in the recent Napa, CA wildfire.

They are making more P30 right now to try to keep up with demand but I don't think there is any available right now. I think they intend to continue making it.

That would be good news, no matter whether will I like the film someday or not. I had a feeling that we would never hear from Ferrania again and the P30 alpha would be the swansong of a tragic story. But I would be glad to be wrong. Now we can hope for the beta?

BTW, great job Bryan. A very good result among the imho very few usable ones in really contrasty light. EI 25, sigh!

Aha.........! My first toughts to the burned motorcycle was in regard of a FILM with Charlie Sheen : Made of Steel !
As the young cop "Dan Saxon" he was "undercover" in a motorcycle gang.
At the end he was in terrible danger therefore.But FBI and ATF AGENDS helped him to be alive.
The motorcycle weren't alive after this final countdown.
So as in your picture.
Ok - so we all have to wait a further while.
I did not ordered the first batch of P30 I have to state. Not allone from the price of
the film - but definitivly from additional
$ 12,50 shipping costs.
And I don't realy need nearly 20 bucks to just one roll P30.
So my decision was to wait. Hope Ferrania will fullfilling its plans.......

After reading the latest update #43 from September on filmferrania.it and especially after reading all the related comments, I'm no longer confident. Arrogant against critical customers, violating kickstarters terms of service, and obviously Nicola Baldini left the stage, no good signs at all imho.

They may intend to make it, and if it becomes readily available in quantity, I will certainly give it a try. The idea of being limited to a couple of rolls and then waiting months for delivery as with the last offer does not interest me in the least. Why waste time testing it if you can't get it in quantity?

Normal doesn't mean necessary. Or productive. Or relevant.

Yes, it's such a shame that we are busy trying to figure out how to make enough film to meet demand that we don't have time to post useless updates that no one reads.

FWIW, TheDarkroom.com (A photrio sponsor) soups this stuff in DD-X (1+4) at 75°F(!) for 10.5 minutes. Looking at the results from my first roll, I'll probably be rating it at EI 50 going forward.

Did The Darkroom process and scan this image, or did you use their specs in your own tank?

This is pretty remarkable considering the "off-the-shelf" developer recipe!!

Thanks Scott! Beautiful shots! I counter with a couple frames of Bologna, but @ 25 asa in Beutler.
I will mix some d96 and try my next rolls with that. When I did my first tests I used what I had on hand (Rodinal), but I'm now convinced P30 does not work well at all with developers like Rodinal or Beutler. There always seems to have a huge speed loss. I did some tests in Rodinal and @80 with the given time (14min) the film seems very underexposed and overdeveloped. I got good results with 10 minutes @ 25 iso. Anybody has an idea why this happens?
In any case I love this film, I hope I can use it a full box speed when it comes back.

You are correct that P30 is not meant for any/all developers, this is why we have recommended D-76 or D-96.

A few folks are finally getting good results from Rodinal by stretching the info we originally posted. Based on this: Dead Link Removed - I will be changing the recommendation for Rodinal stand technique, but I'm working with someone to duplicate the results before we make the change.

We still recommend shooting at box speed - processing makes all the difference.

Hello all,

I don't check this thread all that often, but I'll try to be here more regularly to clear up any questions.

Nicola Baldini is still our CEO and has been very very busy over the past few months attempting to solve our bottleneck with finishing 135 format P30. We have the machines of course - but there is a price-tag to prep space in the LRF, then move/install/test everything. We're working several different angles to make this happen as soon as possible.

With him being so busy and many things being in flux internally, taking the time to make updates with me has had to be sidelined. We know people don't like when we go silent, but the simple fact is that if we're going to make everyone happy in the long run, we have to risk making a few people unhappy in the short term... It's simply a matter of using our time in the best possible way to achieve our goals - and those goals are, quite simply, to make our customers happy.

We are in production right now with our current (limited capacity) finishing partner and trying to build up as much stock as possible before re-opening our shop. This is so that we can KEEP the shop open (even if we must post occasional sold-out messages).

We are planning to have a very limited initial batch of P30 in 120 format in Feb/Mar, with more to come after that.

We have sent some scrap materials for testing P30 in Super 8 cartridges and the early reports are very very good!

We've done some initial testing on addition speeds of P30 film that we hope to release through next year.

Of course, there are no dates for any of this. As soon as we know actual dates, we'll of course announce it everywhere.
