Can I ask where you obtained your time from or on what basis you decided that Legacy Eco Pro at 1+1 at 7 mins was the right time?

Thanks

It was a convoluted process, based on a series of assumptions.
  • Ferannia's P33 Best Practices website gives a time of 7:00 minutes, 20*C for Bellini ECO Developer at 1+1.
  • The Digital Truth Massive Development Chart says this about Bellini ECO Developer: "Bellini Ecofilm, Please use the times posted for Xtol with this developer."
  • Looking at Kodak's recommendations for Xtol <here> the times for undiluted Xtol are about the same as the times for undiluted EcoPro, at the same temps.
...Therefore it follows that the Bellini ECO time provided by Ferrania should also be about right for Legacy Pro Eco-Pro at the same 1+1 dilution and temperature.

However, the logic is only as good as the assumptions, my thin negatives suggest the Bellini ECO time is too short for Ferannia P33. I have not yet tested the alternate possibility that my Eco-Pro solution might have gone partially bad, but based on Andrew O'Neill's results, it seems more likely that my results were due to an unrealistically short processing time rather than deteriorated chemistry.

Thanks for the reply Your logic seems impeccable to me but it looks as if the Ferrania best practices info on Bellini Eco was erroneous I wonder if it has tested that 7 mins itself

Thanks

Thanks! That will be helpful when I get ready to develop my next roll.

If 10:00 is a good time for a stock solution, then my time of 7:00 for a 1+1 dilution must have been way too short, thus explaning my thin negatives.

Upon scanning in the negatives to take a closer look, I would advise against agitation 5sec every minute. I discovered airbells on some of the images. I advise the more traditional, 5sec every half minute. I got zero airbells following Ferrania's advice and D-76. You will have to slightly decrease the time I gave you by about 10%.

I agree, the Bellini Eco time provided by Ferrania needs to be confirmed. I sent an email to Ferrania to tell them about my experience, but I have not received a reply.

Also, I wonder how Digital Truth came to the conclusion that Bellini Eco times and Kodak Xtol times are interchangeable? That assumption probably needs to be confirmed, as well.
