On April 7, 2021, Ferrania said "things are in motion again". Complete radio silence since, and P30 has been off the shelves for a long time. Anybody close to Viale Della Libertà? I understand the pandemic has been hard on everybody, but this long-term zero communication tactic seems troubling.

Ferrania said they were not going to post any updates until they were ready to ship P30 again. One ray of hope for Ferrania enthusiasts is that Freestyle's website says that P30 will be back in stock beginning May 5, 2022. I have no idea whether Freestyle's statement is accurate.

Thanks. If true, by that time, we'll have the new ORWO black and white 35mm as well. Good spring, I guess.

Why doesn't that Kickfarter behavior surprise me any bit? Lovely film, though - would love to reverse it some more if it survives this plague.

Given the abusive, entitled posts they received from people who believed that donating to a kickstarter was somehow the same as ordering a product.....I am not surprised that they've disappeared from forums like this one.

Film Ferrania have made it *very* clear that they will not have an update on their website or anywhere else until they have achieved in-house production of P30 including confectioning.

The best we can hope for is that they're beavering away, working on getting that realised. And that we hear about it when they do. In the meantime, the occasional batch of P30 makes it onto the market, film made at Film Ferrania and finished off with a partner.

I've no interest in P30 and haven't followed Freestyle's stock stock status for it. However, I'd advise against relying on that "back in stock" date. I had been following Freestyle's claims for when it would once again have 4x5 Bergger Pancro 400 in stock. For roughly a year, it kept slipping the date by a month or two each time. Now it appears to have just given up and shows "December 31, 2022." Freestyle seems to be a victim of manufacturers' fantasies.

Very well said. This place can be brutal to manufacturers and vendors.

Even though it was clearly stated in their Kickstarter mission, that the money raised would be used to rescue equipment, and people explained this over and over again, they still banged on, "they promised me film! Where's my film!" "They stole my money!" Because of their contribution, we now have P30. I hope they get a 120 version out (I'll try it!) and eventually colour (even though I don't shoot colour).

Turning a massive, abandoned, rather damaged film factory into a working film producer company with a much smaller stuff and old, somewhat rusty machinery lacking rare and expensive parts is extremely difficult. Hiring people to make things work, older with experience or younger in need of training is costly. So, anybody who has been shouting at Ferrania just doesn't wish to understand how every roll of P30 made so far had to be sold in order to have some income. People on social are extremely rude about the whole thing, and I feel bad for the team in Italy.

We now have P30, but actually, do we? Who knows at this point. The lack of news is not helping. Sure, it's up to them, yet I just prefer the Adox way of dealing with the issues. If your machines are broken, or there happen to be other reasons why you can't produce film at the moment, shoot a video, post an image, keep in touch. Talk about the problems, or even if you don't want to share bad news, just take a tour of the factory, a lab, or anything interesting in connection with Ferrania. The company used to do these things to a certain extent, only then to unplug social. Maybe because of aggressive comments, maybe because regardless of where I travel in Europe in the coming months, I won't be able to grab a roll of P30. And yeah, 120 would be fantastic.

I do think that Adox is exemplary in how they interact with us.

The problem for Film Ferrania was that every time they explained what was happening, eg the Italian government cutting their campus in half, cutting off the power supply, the asbestos, the lockdowns where it was illegal for them to even leave their homes.....the naysayers just accused them of lying and of cheating them out of the film they incorrectly felt they had ordered.

I know they said that 120 was their other priority, more or less in parallel with full in house production of 135 P30. I'd like to see it in 120, and 8mm cine film. Could be a gorgeous 8mm cine film capable of being used as negative or reversal.

The last batch of P30 hit the UK in early summer 2021, so less than a year ago but still quite some time. I can't say I'm not concerned about their future but with current supply chain problems, especially for chemicals and machine parts, they might easily be waiting months for vital things to be delivered.

Does Ferrania use other means of communications such as Facebook, YouTube etc? If it does then maybe that suggests that it is fed-up with its reception on Photrio. However if it is largely "incommunicado" and this applies to all parties then that possibly suggests that it has taken a decision, for better or worse, that it sees little point in communicating until it has something positive to report

There is a Film Ferrania facebook account, which mostly just reposts nice P30 shots people have posted to instagram.

It is full of nasty comments following each picture accusing Film Ferrania of being scammers, people angry at not getting the film they "ordered" and suchlike. Film Ferrania used to engage with the userbase more but now limits itself to the reposts Instagram pictures. I do not know if this is automated. Yesterday I called out one of those making nasty comments and received an insult for my efforts.

So you don't shoot colour and you gave them money to get a colour film as award ?! For what ?

Thanks Agulliver. That largely answers my question. It would appear that Ferrania has decided against a kind of running response with all the social media platforms including Photrio as being at best not productive and at worst counter-productive and it may well be right

I never said I gave them money. But there are people who gave money just to help them save the machines. THAT was what the Kickstarter was for. NOT to make film. Why is that so hard for people to understand??

It wasn't hard at all for me. I found what you said to be quite clear, Andy

Banging on about something is one thing, but banging on about something for the wrong reasons, is another. As far as I'm concerned, their kickstarter was a success. I do hope that one day they are able to make and sell colour film. The more the merrier!

I've contrbuted to Kitkstarter and similar crowd funded schemes not because I was personally interested in the product but because I thought it was a neat idea, or something other people would find really useful. I bet some people who don't use colour film contributed simply because it's good for the analogue photo community as a whole.

I contributed, and I would probably use the proposed colour cine film....albeit in small quantities depending on price. But I also read the T&C and understood that there was never any guarantee of success. At this point and for the medium term, I hope they get P30 production sorted out in-house and can keep a steady supply into the market. It's good stuff. Then hopefully the colour film will eventually follow.

Freestyle now shows that P30 will be back in stock December 31, 2022, which is not especially encouraging.

I guess they got tired on Chanaging the due date. Posibly folks where holding back placing an order expecting the P30 would soon be in stock.

Ferrania started behind the 8 ball so to speak, so the fact that they are even still around and making any kind of film especially after the last couple years I'd say is a triumph all by itself. Small companies like Ferrania are the future in my opinion. Try to support them instead of maligning them.

I am not that interested in P30 but I'll buy some just on principle. Have some fun with it.

That's great news! I do hope they can produce some P30 in 120. I really want to give it a go!
