When we backed Film Ferrania, an altruistic contribution towards supporting their project is *exactly* what we all made.

We weren't ordering film. We weren't buying any products.

My gripe is that, as a Kickstarter contributor, I still can't easily buy P30, and have had no direct communication from Ferrania as to the situation. And I would have been happy to buy at the retail price, not asking for a discount or freeby.

I declined the offer of "free" P30, in lieu of the original E6 film, on the (misleading) suggestion that the E6 film was only delayed a relatively short period. Not a word since.

Face it, I'd have done better just to spend my original contribution on quality, proven and readily available film from Kodak, Ilford, Adox, etc. IMHO, the whole Ferrania thing was a vanity project, as so many Kickstarter projects now seem to be.

You should be happy that your contribution helped save necessary machines and help secure their future.

That is what the whole thing was about - not getting a couple rolls of film.

Precisely.....I never said otherwise. Please read what I said:- "My gripe is that, as a Kickstarter contributor, I still can't easily buy P30, and have had no direct communication from Ferrania as to the situation. Come on guys, cut Ferrania some slack. It is totally understandable that they want to ramp up as sales, as logistics and international shipment are a nightmare. Besides, if they would have opened to sell worldwide and something got wrong/delayed, people would be blowing up that their shipment was late / had to pay additional taxes on it.
Source: I have a company in CH and even "simple" stuff like selling in the EU is a nightmare, unless you want to sell at loss that is.

Hi! are you sure about this?. The last time I visited there, I found nothing. Did they increase the price also ?. And what do you mean by new batch. Is is different from the older ones?
At that time yes. I meant a new delivery. Every batch (films produced at a time) should be the same.

If you're going to be rude, please get your facts right first. Both those websites list it but neither has any stock.

If you believe I am being rude, please report me to the moderators.

When I performed the search at 6am that morning, both retailers had P30 in stock limited to two films per customer.

I am on Analogue Wonderland's mailing list and was notified by e-mail the day their box arrived. When I tried to order that same day, they had already sold out and they have certainly had none since. Their website currently says that they are expecting a more substantial delivery within "weeks".

As for FirstCall, it's clear from their website entry that they haven't stocked or sold the current version of P30, as their "info" entry is dated March 2018.

I tried the Italian and Spanish sites mentioned in another post link. Their p&p charges are rather excessive, in the Italian case amounting to more than the cost of two rolls and, in the Spanish, a bit less.

I think I'll wait for either AW or another UK supplier and also keep an eye on Irish retailers.

In fact, the majority of the work we have done internally over the past year was to ensure that our film is consistent across batches (and to minimize waste).
Since we do not run the coater 24/7, we only make batches - so to speak. But of course there needs to be no difference between a roll you buy today and a roll you buy months from now.
It will require constant work on our part to make sure this is the case.

AW is correct. We have a soft pre-order from them for the next batch that will begin shipping very soon.

As we have noted a number of times in the past, finishing 135 film is and will remain a very tight bottleneck in production until we are able to do it in-house.
The options for 135 finishing are extremely limited and most are not available to us. Our primary focus at this time is completing the work on our in-house finishing equipment for 120, 135 and 4x5 formats.

As such, we are taking the limited number of rolls available to us every 2-3 weeks (for the short term) and trying our best to divide it among our resellers. First dividing between the US and EU, then within each zone, dividing it further so everyone gets some.

Regarding FirstCall - we have not sold directly to them in this latest rollout. This probably explains the outdated info. Perhaps they are one of Macodirect's wholesale clients? We don't really know until (and if) Maco supplies us with a list.

Thank you for the feedback !

Here are a few shots from my second test roll.

The first roll was underexposed and under developed. Tech for this roll are:

ISO 50 in a Nikon F100
8 minutes at 68º in house-mixed D76 (2gM, 100gSS, 10gH, 2gB L)
Scanned on Pakon F135+
Light spotting, toning, curves adjustment in Lightroom

2 rolls per customer with enough stock for probably 1 customer... :D

Anyway, looking back at when I sent that $70...it is now obvious that we were all quite naive (Ferrania and us backers) to think that $250k would be anywhere near sufficient to renovate a factory and restart industrial production. It costs more than that to build a small house, let alone fix a factory and move industrial machinery around...

Oh well, at least they try!

Off topic, but I can assure you that a small house can be built for far less than $250k USD. But, that depends where you are and what (likely arbitrary) impediments are put in your way; the two often being related. From my reading of the situation for Ferrania, much of the delay was due to such external forces.

You're remembering wrong... That's not what the money was for. It was to purchase three specific machines from the old Ferrania factory, and put them in storage for the day when they'd be able to use them. Meanwhile, at the time, they had a small production facility (a testing lab) available, and they had materials enough to produce a small batch of color reversal film. This was to be the Kickstarter reward.

They did save the machines, so the Kickstarter project was successful. Making that small batch of film, on the other hand, turned out to be impossible, for various reasons, so they offered us alternative stakes in the first "new old" film, the P30, that they're now making, with some outside help, to establish a revenue stream that can enable them to continue working toward larger scale in-house manufacturing of that and other film types, including color reversal film.
