The original is set in Belgium, dialog is in Flemish with some French and English thrown in. And the acting and production are superior in comparison. The English version is practically a carbon copy. There is a German version, too.

Ah, OK. It was the use of the word blasphemy that threw me It looked like a very harsh word to use for the British version of this programme.

The recent (English) "Professor T" has a scene in a red lit darkroom with reminiscing older characters making portraits on film in the darkroom. Sometimes with the (Pentax?) camera just a couple of inches from the (perfectly focused) subject. Duh. But: the red light erases a lot of wrinkles.
