8.1 in British Columbia

I sent camera 8.1 on its merry way to the left coast of N America.

I can see from Canada Post tracking that camera 8.1 has made it across the continental divide and has been deliverd to Delta, BC!
It should be in the vicinity of coordinates 49.089958 N,-123.073236 W

Given the earlier comments about carriers and germs, I have included safe handling apparatus in the parcel. That should come in handy for the dept of homeland insecurity. After all, camera 8.1 does contain a gelatinous analog photon capture substrate. You don't want that anywhere near unprotected skin.

And guess what, 8.1 is in my hot little hands! Complete with the additional safe-handling apparatus.

I'll be in touch with Fred shortly, to arrange the "cross-border" hand-off. I may decide to refrain from including the safe handling apparatus with it, because I sure don't want to give any ideas to the US Border guards . (I'll leave it to Martin to explain, if he wishes).

And thanks to thebanana for the extra momentos of the camera's travels.

I am on pins and needles, largely because I'd forgotten I'd put them on the chair here when I was cleaning up this afternoon. :pinch:

Well folks, I have shot one shot that I think will do.

I'll send a PM off to Fred, John and Lisa to see if one or more of them are interested in meeting up for delivery in person.

And I thought it apropos to quote Sile from a post this last June:

"No poultry will be safe for the next 6-12 months (yes I'm being optimistic!).. "

Hello!

I hope this is the right thread.

Greetings from pcyco (Thomas). He received the camera but after our last meeting of analog photographers in Vienna he unfortunately had an accident with his bicycle and is now in hospital with a broken leg. So for now is not able to post something in this forum. He asked me to inform all of you.

You tempted fate there Matt didn't you? Three days later Pcyco falls off his bike and breaks a leg... coincidence?
I think not...

Get better soon Thomas! Look forward to a pic of the cast!

Tim.. "ba dum tish..." you'll be here all week?

Give Thomas the camera; it should make for some great shots. Maybe one of his bicycle or the object that hit him (or that he hit)! I'm kidding of course. Get well soon:smile:

Pcyco,
Get well soon.
Being on crutches is no fun. Being on crutches during the winter, and having to move around on ice and snow is even worse.

After the long drive by Matt and his wife, Victoria BC (or thereabouts) to Seattle, a massive brain-fart on my part kept me home when I should have been meeting Matt for the camera hand-off... He gave it to (there was a url link here which no longer exists), a fellow apugger who DID show up at the meeting, who then passed it on to me this afternoon. (Did that make sense? I must have had a stroke or something.)

So I have the Nikon here. No idea yet what I'm going to shoot; maybe I'll just take a picture of tomorrow's breakfast. How many shots do I get? The frame counter is on 24.

Thanks Matt, and again my most abject apologies. Thanks also to Ralph, who wants to be part of the next round.

In honour of his generous assistance, I think we should rename camera 8.1 - as "Ralph".

Glad it got to you Fred (I knew Ralph could be counted on!).

And Fred, it is just south of Vancouver we come down from - so only a couple of hours when the border lineups aren't bad - unless we stop on the way (which we did in a few pre-planned locations).

Have fun with the camera.

As for numbers of shots, after you it goes to John, then Lisa, and then back to Shawn in New York (who I would presume has already taken his shots). So two shots would seem to make sense.

Seems like I don't sign in for a while and everything goes wacky. I should have known letting that chicken get away and subbing a pig wouldn't do.
Seriously Thomas - hope you heal well and fast.

Ralph: If you're reading this - you are the MAN. Thinking about the journeys these cameras have endured - and for you to step in like that and make the save is absolutely incredible.

Thomas: Hope you are doing and healing well!

Finally - where be the Canon?

So two shots would seem to make sense.

I may have missed something, but the Nikon should have an odd number of shots on it. My predecessor on the list only took one shot and I took two. I tried wading through 70 pages a thread to figure out how many should be on 8.1 but my attention span failed me. BTW, I still owe everyone an apology for holding onto the camera for so long.

i´m at home now.
i will have to make some indoor shots because my leg is in a big plaster only for lie around and getting to the toilet .

cycling is now over for longer time because my femorral is broken two times short above the knee and the parts of the bone have split up my patella .

so lets do 2 gypsum shots and move the camera further :D.

sorry for the longest delay of this camera.

regards (and thankyou for all the posts)
