And it’s here! Let’s hope my gamble pays off!
Apparently, this stuff displayed a turboelectric effect when you slit it. That was rather startling, from my experiences with this affects with tape, I don’t think it should affect the role too much, but it was definitely startling.

What did you slit it into?

A shirt roll of 120. At the moment I don’t have a spiral for shirt lengths of 70mm, so this is how I can test film.

I know that someone on here offered me a metal 116/616 spiral at some point, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out who it was.

I have 2 that I dont need, one plain spool & one still has the backing paper & film (its a Ansco Plenachrome film, the films been exposed on it though).

Nah not the film spool, the development spiral

Oh ok, misread it & thought it said spool 😂

There's a seller on etsy (located in Utah) that has 3d printed reels, one of them is an adjustable one for 616/122 film:

Oh, I know, I’ve talked to them before, and they’ve even posted on this particular thread (although I think his post was deleted because he was advertising his products outside of the classifieds). I am not looking for this particular solution. I do have a Patterson tank, but I would much rather load it into a stainless steel tank since it uses much less chemistry, and in my opinion is nicer to process with.

If I had thought about it, I would have made a model of one that can fit in my stainless steel tank and had it printed at school, but unfortunately, I did not think about it until just now. And I am done with school.

Nikon tanks use less chemistry? Please do tell.
How long is a shirt length… 12” ?

Congratulations! You will certainly miss other aspects of studentdom...

If you still have it, I can run it next week (70 or 120) when I develop some of the 65 you sent me. I now have all the widths (but not longer than 220 at the moment).

If you get it from Temu, order a size ot two larger than usual...

I think "Nikor" tanks, and they use about 80% of what Patterson does. My chart is taped up in the offsite darkroom.

Metal (Nikkor) tanks use something like 400ml vs the 600ml for a Paterson tank when processing 120. And a “shirt length” is a typo, I meant “short length”, about 18” or half a roll of 120.

Guess I should clarify, I’m done with this semester (and my associates in general and civil engineering, yay!). Still have some student in to do yet.

You have a 3D printer? I might hit you up on that actually…

....

The Paterson tank (Series 4) uses 500ml for 120 film.

No printer...but various "adjusted" tanks/reels for these.
Ah. I might make up a model for it regardless and see if I can get someone on here to 3D print it for me.

I just looked, and this is correct. Although the point still stands, it does use less chemistry. It’s also a lot less bulky and I like using it more, so there’s that.

It is important to differentiate between the old Paterson System 4 tanks, and the current ones - The Super System 4 tanks - which were introduced ~ 37 years ago
They use the same reels, and the tube cores are designed to fit both old and new reels, but the recommended fill levels may differ.

Oh wow. That’s efficient.

Just bought 2 cans of Agfa N400!

The listing had a test image and it looks pretty good, confirmed cold stored the entire time. 50 feet is going to a friend, and I’ll probably cut some 120/220. I’ll keep a couple of 15’ cassettes for sure though.

The seller has a lot of cans available and from my own experience AGFA, even expired, can deliver good results if properly stored. Negotiated a lower price and picked 8... 🥺 Its hard to find 70mm color negative at this price... There's also someone selling a lot of 70mm FUJI duplicating film.

Any experience with the Fuji CDU film?

Here is a nice camera using 70mm film
