Omer is a true dedicated and committed professional. Anyone who doesn’t like him or his products are welcome to not do business with him. It’s as easy as that.

I'm a bit surprised that the people out there who toll coat film runs for entities like CatLabs haven't done and shared with their customer (CatLabs) spectral response tests that could satisfy the requests in this thread.
Perhaps that information is embedded in other information that CatLabs doesn't feel able to share.
I appreciate the fact that CatLabs has taken the risk to bring another film to market. I'm surprised that CatLabs has responded to the requests the way they/he have/has. A simple "we don't have the resources to be able to do that" would have sufficed.

Omer is an asset to the photographic community, if you use 35mm or medium format why not shoot some film and post some results at 6.99 a roll. A picture is worth a thousand words or so they say.

Thanks Catlabs for giving us options and good luck with the new film launch!

(this replaces my previous deleted post which may have been a little hurricane stress driven, apologies)
There were some very legitimate questions

I believe however CatLabs had/have chosen to respond would have made some people unhappy. To be honest and to their credit, they seem to have suffered through this thread with a sense of humor. Yes, at times it may have been snarky humor, but good for them. They’ve replied to every inquiry, despite being beaten-up pretty badly by some. How many ways do you need to be told they don’t have the information you’re looking for? Seriously, if you’re so concerned about your ‘workflows’ (whatever that is) you’re too high and mighty to be buying this film in the first place. I’m sure you long ago settled on your ‘go to’ emulsions from Kodak or Ilford, and happily read their data sheets every night like a bedtime story.

So, even through the pandemic, global economic downturn, and worldwide shipping and logistical issues, CatLabs presents us with a brand new film at a very reasonable price.

I think I’ll take pictures and not worry about the data sheet.

...I'm surprised that CatLabs has responded to the requests the way they/he have/has...

I'm surprised Omer has exhibited the degree of restraint he showed when responding. Given how, in my opinion, essentially irrelevant PHOTRIO posters are in the film market today (and how highly they unjustifiably think of themselves and their importance), that any manufacturer takes the time to even read, much less respond to, the bitching and moaning that goes on here is amazing.

Keep on keepin' on, Omer.

Okay. That is nice film. Is your current film better, or close to the same?

CatLABS X FILM 320 Pro film has nothing to do with XX.

Unfortunately its hard to use subjective quantitative terms to compare two different films. When i was a photo student oh so many years ago i asked older students what is the film i should buy as i was going to buy a 30m roll. They said that is a stupid thing to do if i want to learn which film does what and works how. They said: Buy a few of each type you have access to and see what you like. They also said that after doing this, comparing films to one another would be like having a smell comparison of different spray lubricants, undoubtedly one of the best and informative videos currently available on "the internet":

They said: Buy a few of each type you have access to and see what you like.

This is bad advice.

Because now I have several films in my freezer I like very much, each for different reasons. Because there are many great films, even today with historical major players long gone.

So I shoot one film for a bunch of rolls then look at my stash and think "Man, I really dig HP5, I should be shooting that" or "ohh... I have that IR film, why haven't I been using that?" I'm almost guilty feeling for neglecting that bulk roll of FP4 I've got stashed.

First world problems, am I right?

But also, lets see which companies business practices over decades landed them in receivership, multiple times. Should those really be models to follow?
Oh my. Kodak’s business practices over decades and a century netted them one of the most recognized and successful companies on the planet with over 100,000 employees. Yes, follow them! 😃 Maybe not the post 1990 model, as film photography was waning and they were saddled with an impossibly large infrastructure, but let’s give them the respect that they are due. Your challenges are not remotely similar to theirs.

Yes they were a good company. They did right by their employees, were on the forefront of environmental issues and did more to advance photography than all the rest of them put together. Providing good customer support is not what caused them to go bust.

There were/are manufacturers who did not publish curves of whatever kind of their very own products.

Hand Tool Rescue!! This guy is Great!! Usually he does most without saying a word. Most videos have a couple Chaplinesque sight gags.

Coating is one thing. Formulating the emulsion chemistry is another. If it's interesting film try it.

Who knows, given Omer's short commute to Massachusetts Institute of Technology and dozens of former Polaroid employees, this could be the greatest film ever!
Not T-grain or Delta, but X! X as in SpaceX???🤔🤔🤔

What is the pre-wash is pink, developer is purple and the final wash is blue? That would be really confusing. 😁

I have enough film to last me a while, but I've done quite a bit of business with Catlabs over several years, always been satisfied.

The person who came up with ISO 25, maybe they can conjure up a Spectra! 😀

Wait a second, isn't Spectra a Polaroid camera? Or a James Bond super-villian hmmn??

Ahem.....SPECTRE. Shhh, we're a super secret organization. Maybe film coating will be our next criminal enterprise? Oh wait, Kodak is already in the extortion side of that....😉

Well, it was Catlabs himself who entered this market-wise irrelevant forum. And he could expect that it would result in some banter, to which he added his part.
