With the plastic tip on the film advance, it appears to be the 1976 F-1.
They are as follows:
Original F-1 -> http://global.canon/en/c-museum/product/film78.html
Updated F-1 -> http://global.canon/en/c-museum/product/film95.html
New F-1 -> http://global.canon/en/c-museum/product/film105.html

Also check out http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1/index.htm and http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1n/index.htm

OK, here are a couple of digisnaps of the camera, haven't had time for a proper formal portrait sitting, I'll probably use the 4X5 for that :smile:, still trying to figure out how to take a picture of all my cameras at the same time while using one of my cameras, it will probably involve a mirror....

Nothing particularly noteworthy in the lens department but seem to be good solid players.
FD 50mm f1.4 S.S.C. as pictured
Canon FL 200mm f3.5, over all OK but has a spot of fungus off to one side.
Tamron FL 35mm f2.8, glass is clear
Kiron FD 80-200mm f4.5 Macro, also a bit of fungus off to the edge

These join my existing stable of FD mount lenses with my AE-1
Canon FD 50mm f1.8
Vivitar FD 28mm f2.0 Close Focus Wide Angle (under-rated star)
Panagor FD 135mm f2.8
Soligor FD 95-310mm f5.6 Zoom-Macro (kind of a dog but it has it uses)

That's a nice F-1N - congratulations. The ones I've seen for sale personally look like they've been through 30 years of rough photojournalism.

That F1-N looks like mine. Has the non AE finder so manual operation. ( Aperture priority is said to work with this finder but no indication of selected aperture in the viewfinder). It should have come with the Partial area metering focus screen. Approx 12% central portion of the screen.

Aperture priority only works with the AE finder, however shutter priority will work with the finder pictured ( Eye Level Finder FN) with the Power Winder FN or Motor Drive FN fitted to the camera.

Aperture priority works with any finder, but only the AE finder shows the chosen speed.

No my friend I disagree with the Eye level Finder FN it has only (matched needle) manual exposure control in either open aperture or stopped down metering mode and it does show the lens aperture set in the viewfinder in green with the correct new type FDn lenses. Read these -

http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/canonf1n/exposures/detail.htm
I have owned a Eye level finder FN for around 25 years and can assure you that the only automatic exposure that you can get with it is shutter priority, and to achieve that you need first to attach the Power Winder FN or the Motor Drive FN to the camera, there is no way to get aperture priority automatic exposure without the AE Finder FN.

I have a feeling that flavio81 is not referring to aperture priority automatic exposure. I think he is referring to an approach to manual metering that starts with a chosen aperture, followed by an adjustment of shutter speed to match the light levels.
Like benjiboy, I'm used to "aperture priority" being a reference to an automatic exposure metering system.

No, i mean aperture priority ID. Supposedly it should work even without a prism, because it doesn't need any special circuit. Just set the shutter dial to A.

I'll do a test later to verify.

I went out shooting yesterday with my F-1N and a FD 55/1.2 SSC lens. Camera and lens handles nicely. I hope to finish the film tomorrow and to see what this lens is up to ...

If you use a mirror, use REVERSAL FILM so you can read the name of the camera :smile: That is a beautiful camera!

I've got a couple more frames on my test roll in the my new to me F-1N. I was hoping to get some sunshine today but might have to try some long exposure natural light indoors to finish the roll, need to test those slow speeds anyway.

I have never found any need for a F1.2 lens, to me the best F.D. standard lens and the best value for money is the 50mm F1.4.

Here are some images of my very first film shot with my "new" Canon F1-N with 50/1.8 on Agfa Vista 200 colour film in November 2016 ~ finally developed this weekend (C-41) and scanned (straight scan - no PS tinkering):

Yes, there is rarely the need for f1.2.

However, the 55/1.2 lenses "render" differently than the 50/1.4 lenses or 50/1.8. More beautifully. It has its own "look". I can identify it easily when i see my slides. Often i shot with the 50/1.8 and with the 55/1.2 lens on the same roll. The difference is noticeable, because of the 'look'. Also because of the longer focal length.

I shot my FD 55/1.2 S.S.C. lens for the first time this weekend (and my 2nd roll with the F1-N). It handles perfectly, just like the F1-N. A very nice combination. I hope to get the film developed and scanned this weekend. Can't wait to see the difference with the FD 50/1.8 I used on my first roll with the F1-N.

There's nothing wrong with the FD 50mm f1.8 lens Bert. although the F1.4 is better, because it's a better designed Double Gauss design https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-Gauss_lens and is multi-coated ( the f1.8 ones single are single coated) FD 50mm f1.4 is already a better optic than I'm a photographer and for the price of a FD 50mm 1.2 L lens on Ebay I could buy two Canon F1-N AE bodies.
