What works great are used wine bladders. The bladder collapses as the liquid is dispensed. Wine is similar to developer due to sensitivity to air. When I used XTOL, I used it replenished. I put my working developer in a plastic jug then use a wine bladder for my replenisher portion. I top off the working solution when I replenish it leaving little near the neck of the bottle.

best way to store five liters of developer? divide it up into five separate glass bottles. I buy them from the local chemistry lab supply store for not a whole lot of money. They come with "poly seal" caps. I used to fuss and get the amber glass bottles but, I've switched to plain clear glass....the advantage of clear glass is that you can see what your chemistry looks like. D76 turns brown when its starting to go bad.

The problem with glass containers is breakage. A lot of developer on your darkroom floor plus broken glass is a real mess. However if you are OK with the risk that's fine. You can buy plastic coated shatter-proof bottles. They are coated with a layer of soft plastic. They can break but will not shatter.

Good to know. I've not seen those at the lab supply place.
I drop and break dishes and coffee cups etc all the time but I've not **yet** broken any of the chemical bottles...I did break a liter sized beaker full of develeper once...uhhg! What a mess! Now I use plastic "beakers" with handles.

No needs to drink wine to get the wine bags.
Look up 5l wine bags on eBay.

A friend of mine turned me on to them.

Thanks for that idea, your right as well there are loads here in the UK as well from home brew companies (5 litre bag in box (BIB)).
