It is a need-to-have within one's product offering, or else succumb to the loss of market share gobbled up by competitive offerings that say their products include it. Once the public gets over its fear of AI and learns of the benefits that can be derived from its inclusion in different products.
Imaging being about to tell an AI TV set..."Optimize tonight's tuning schedule to my preferred programs or genre, and program that into tonight's selections." Would you buy a TV that could not do that each night?!

Just think, we could have the TV arguing with itself as to which prompts to follow, rather than the current discussions (between my wife and I) about who should have custody of the remote. .
I'm content with the current "other shows you might like" recommendations we can currently access using our cable service provided, TiVo based system.

The internet is flooded with manipulated images that go way above the average film or digital photographer.
Will we have cameras that have an AI mode?
The future does not look good.

And yet, despite their failure to launch a competitive effort in the AI field, Apple remains staggeringly successful. And if they can ever realize it, I like the idea of on-device AI in which biometric and other personal data does not leave the device.

I don't have to imagine what an AI television set might be like: Services including Roon, Spotify, Prime Video and YouTube are all about maximizing "user engagement", while I am all about letting them know as little as possible about me .

Many (and some of them well-known and well-regarded) film photographers would (and still do) routinely replace the skies in their landscape photos. Old news. When did photography ever get the definition of an image straight from the film? That is a false pretense and does not necessarily have any relevance to the medium. It may be how you see things, but you don't get to make the rules. And there is no such thing as an AI photograph. Only AI generated images that resemble photographs.

We both agree on your last point (rule?). I was just making the point that many other people will believe that AI images are photography.

How about: "Shoot 100 pictures of people dancing on the floor using wide, medium, and close-up shots." The camera would have an AI chip and microphone to hear the prompts. It would be mounted on a motorized tripod at the wedding you have to shoot.

Didn't Apple drop it;s own AI design and make a deal with Google to use their Gemini?

Differentiating the minimum wage guy from the billionaire exec both visiting the porn site, not likely.

That's easy: They simply infer it from your viewing history: Every time you use the "smart" features of your smart TV, you are sharing information about yourself. It's also one reason why nearly all TV sets these days are "smart", and also so cheap: The purchase price is subsidized.

I imagine that Big Data has access to eerily good algorithms which can infer a lot about you, based on data you provide directly and data aggregated from other sources (ever used a Facebook or Google login to speed up creation of a new account, Big Data thanks you). Individually, those sources may only contain fragments of information, but when aggregated, a more nuanced picture emerges. Of course, they'll never willingly reveal the extent of their profiles of you, lest you be alarmed.

Dunno about the AI mode, but people will still be interested in capturing life as it unfolds. AI has certainly changed things a lot on YouTube with art, photography and video content.

I always remember to select "No AI" when working with Adobe Stock to make sure real people are getting paid for the products (images, illustrations, music) that I license. There are times when using an AI image would be more practical but I prefer humans.

The ability to mimic real photos makes it worse. No one will believe in photographs any longer. All a person has to say is, "That photo is fake," even if it's real.
