Well except for the lack of multi quote, a feature I have on every other vBulletin board I use. Other than that, it ain't broke.

Is that a bug or a feature?
I've always thought that it was a conscious admin decision to not enable automatic multi-quoting.
Sure, it can make it hard to follow sometimes, but you can insert them manually if you really want. I've been on forums where there are nested quotes 20 or more, now that's even harder to follow.

I've enabled multi-quote, didn't know much about it or that anyone wanted it. The icon should be there now.

If that means inserting multiple quotations into ones posting, I guess that rarely would be useful. Better to reply in different postings or take one quotation as genaral sample.
I once inserted two quotations, one by opening a second reply-window and cut&pasting it.

I would use multiquotes. I already do.

Just a quick update:

I have hired a skilled styling coder to transfer our look and feel to the new system (his team have done a lot of these conversions). This should be done in a couple of weeks. Then we will move on to importing content into the new system and swapping over.

Great that you intend to preserve "our look and feel".

It is a conscious decision. But I have it on other forums and miss it here, sometimes bothering to do it manually.

Yep, like this! I didn't notice it for the reply before because it doesn't show on Tapatalk unless you tap the message then the "more" button. It prevents a series of "stacked" replies from the same person by allowing combining them.

Thanks!

I hope it doesn't go to a top post format like Tapeheads (a tape recorder site). That's irritating. On Tapeheads you have to go to the bottom of the last page to see the OP.

I'm no fan of that either, it's a forum option than can be easily adjusted..

Will the galleries keep their currently existing submissions and associated statistics? Meaning, things like descriptions, technical notes, dates/times, view counts, and more importantly, comments?

Hi Ken, it shouldn't be a problem. We run vbgallery and their system has a specific import script for this. These import scripts can also be adjusted in various ways if anything is missing.

***UPDATE - May 8th***

Slight delay, but templating of the new system is now under way. This will hopefully be done in a week or so.

Absolutely. It's my intention to basically retain what we already have minus the old annoyances/glitches of the current system. I'm bringing in some top guys to help with this as well (they have migrated forums 20x this size and left everyone very happy).

***UPDATE***

Moving along.. The development site is up and running. So far I am extremely pleased with the new software and am confident we can do a near 1:1 transfer of what we currently have to the new system + added functionality, less bugs and a far better user experience for all. My goal is to make it so you don't really notice we are on a new system, but you feel things are more refined, run better and there are general improvements everywhere you turn. For example we have issues with people bulk deleting gallery entries, they would notice they can now do this. The articles area, videos, social groups all lack a lot of functionality and the new system will resolve that and much much more.

Good luck! We're approaching completion at work on a migration from an old Microsoft Content Management System (MCMS) site to SharePoint 2013. It's no small feat, let me assure you. We all appreciate the work you do for us.

Thanks ME Super, yes this is going to be a huge job but it will be well worth it. I am taking my time (measure twice, cut once). We'll soon have a new framework ready for the next 5-7yrs that will be worth investing in. A lot of things people have asked for over the years will be addressed with this new software. Not to mention the back end management tools for admin and moderators will be superior. Pretty exciting

Ok here is a very very early peek at some of the current work. A screenshot of the new system running the native gallery. The gallery will become a "Media" hub where we somewhat combine our old gallery system and old videos section within their respective categories in the media section. There will be much improved functionality for both. The next screenshot is of the new "Resources" section. This is a native system as well which will allow us to have more robust articles, attachments available for download, a wiki and more. Last screenshot (styling not fully adjusted) shows the user drop down menu giving easy access to your profiling, settings and more. Please keep in mind this is a very early peek, a great deal of work is left. When I am finished with this it will be the best APUG we've ever had. I will probably launch a fundraiser soon as this first round of work has been pricey and we have a ways to go. Do you guys think I should run a campaign at Indiegogo or just here on APUG? I'd be looking for $500-1000 and anything beyond that would fund various stretch goals.. Thanks for having a look!
