Have'nt been here for a while. What happened to the APUG title?

Only Sean would know all the details, but APUG and DPUG morphed into Photrio.

Like the dinosaurs it was time to either evolve or die. We chose to evolve and bring all photographic image makers under the tent. Welcome back!

Apug somehow vanished, only remaining in the hearts of the stubborn...

Not to miss something anlogue one now has to enable both "analog" and "hybrid" at ones preference settings.

Surprise! We knew the site was going to change to include digital but the dropping of the APUG name for the analog section was an executive decision mentioned after the fact. Not looking to rehash that issue, just reporting the facts. On the bright side, in the spirit of modernity and inclusivity its now OK to deride the "stubborn" "dinosaurs" who were less pleased about it. Its all discussed here somewhere but not worth looking up. It is what it is.

Why people think destroying a film/darkroom site with non-film discussion is a good thing is beyond me. However, the forum software still works pretty good at filtering non-film related topics. Still it is amazing that people post on this site with disrespect to film users.

Hello, time traveller, let me inform you of the latest news:

- You can post about scanners & hybrid workflow,
- Non-subscribers can see what's in the media section.
- Ektachrome is back.
- Acros is gone.
- There's rumors about a Kodachrome revival.
- Sirius still refuse to share his work.
- The Chat is as crowded as Chernobyl.

Welcome back to Photrio.

- And we have shirts and hats and a mug in the shop !

- Sirius still refuse to share his work.
- Sirius just posted a 'lomo-style' photograph of his girlfriends fridge ...

Contrary to the views of some, the site is not being destroyed. Participation has actually increased. And since the site has evolved to allow hybrid and digital discussion, no disrespect is shown film users by posting such topics .If you click on Today's Posts at the moment, of the 59 threads displayed, only one is hybrid and none are digital. If you don't want to see the hybrid or digital threads, you can choose to make them invisible. Of course the whining by film users continues unabated, so that aspect of the site hasn't changed either. Same old, same old.

hey kevin !
great to see you found the site again ( with the different name and all, thankfully the apug.org popcorn trail still works  )
now you can post a inverted paper negative or film scan and not have an angry mob with pitchforks and torches surround you
with claiming only print scans are allowed in the gallery. :whistling:

"surrender dorothy ! "

We should ask Sean to make a T-shirt about this "When I was young, Sirius posted a photograph"

you might not have been here back when the rocks were soft
but he posted some sort of off road photograph of his pals? winching their jeep up a dirt/sand mound ...
and he removed it and stopped posting to the site because the image was used without his consent and posted on more than 200 websites ..
the image was posed in a thread where he mentioned he does off road photography for a store in exchange for parts for his rig... (IRRC)
indeed a rare treat to see mr glass' images even if they show expired food and other foods that don't need to be refrigerated ... in the fridge ..
he does need a better instagram filter, maybe some mouse ears on the eggs and cat wiskers on the milk ..
and a wee bit more posterization !

It is beyond me that there are those who believe making this an INCLUSIVE photography environment is somehow "destroying" the darkroom-oriented aspects of the site. How is this a "disrespect to film users"???! Its that kind of prejudice that causes measurable damage to the site. Nobody is making the digital/hybrid components mandatory viewing!

Originally I had selected Analog-only for viewing and during that time I was under the impression that the Hybrid and Digital posts were where the majority of the discussion was occurring. However, based on comments of others, I enabled all three categories and have been totally surprised how very few posts there are in the Digital and Hybrid categories.

Yes, that allowed me to get my fingers dirty doing digital work as seen in my first selfie. If you want to get your hands dirty with digital feel free to just dig in.

There does seem to be more and more posts in which the users are film plus scanning rather than film plus darkroom work?. Certainly most pictures in the Gallery are scanned from negatives rather than prints. Maybe back in the "old days" of say 2003 - 2005 this was also the case?

The rationale for absorbing APUG into Photrio was that it needed the digital side to "support it" so that it could survive. Photrio as surrogate mother to carry the ailing, demanding APUG fetus to full term. I'm compelled to predict then, based on low digital use, that a miscarriage fatal to mother and child is our fate. Of course we're probably still in the first trimester, so maybe thats premature.

Hello, time traveller, let me inform you of the latest news:

- Acros is gone.

Acros is not gone. I am shooting Acros. I am also shooting FP4 because Acros will be gone in a couple of rolls...
