Go for it Dave, I'm sure your negotiating skills are better than mine.

When I spoke to them about accommodation availability for the 21/22nd I told them we were a group called apug.

Crochet anyone?

Couple of points occur. We need the nights of 20th + 21st. Most of us will be wanting singles, but at least we can probably offer them 10+ paying customers out of season at a time they probably would not have more than a few, if any.

Like Barry, my negotiation skills are not my best feature (that would be my intelligence, handsomeness, humour, and all-round general wonderfulness - and modesty) and I always forget stuff and have to keep ringing back to clarify (and add) things...

Cheers, Bob.

Actually I've been up-dating my website, something long overdue.
As for the cheesecake weekend, matters are in hand to rectify your collective tardiness. Having already organised a shambles of a windswept weekend, I am content to leave this one to others.

APUG Spring 2007 meet

If nobody else is eager I am willing to try and sort out the accommodation for the spring meet at Ross-on-Wye.
Just to confirm the dates it's for Friday 20th April and Saturday 21st April 2007 leaving Sunday 22nd April.
From the postings there are 23 people expressing a wish to attend. The Pencraig Hotel has only ten rooms so if all those intentions turn into bookings then we need to find some additional accommodation unless you are all going to get extremely friendly. I have listed out below, from the postings, all those who have said they intend to go (I apologise for not knowing all your personal names) so can all of you on the list reconfirm your intention still to attend and anybody else not on the list who wants to go please let me know. Similarly anyone on the list who now will not be going please let me know. Can you also say whether you require a single or double room. I would appreciate a response in the next few days because as soon as I have a reasonable certain number for the rooms required I can start talking to the Hotel(s). The final commitment will come when people book their rooms.

Cheers, Tony Marlow

Many thanks for acting as an organiser. I shall require a double room as my wife wishes to come along. She is very photo minded and can bring along some 'proper' prints if necessary. So that's another name! She is a photographer but is now d.....l, as bending over in the darkroom caused arthritic pains, so she surrendered to the enemy. John (and Ann) Stredwick (aka pyrometol)

Thanks Tony. I'm not sure if my Wife will be able to join me. So I'd be happy to pay for single occupancy of a double room. That would leave open the possibility of both of us attending.

Regards

Well done that man, a willing organiser is a valuable resource.
I shall (probably) be without wife for the weekend, but can do single or single occupancy double if that is needed to balance the numbers attending to rooms available. Let me know when money needs to change hands.

A couple of people making an excellent point. Tony, if it helps I'm also happy to do single occupancy of a double (or twin) room.

Add me for a single Tony.

I've always found hotels will put me in a double room if that is all they have left. I don't think I have ever actually been given a single bed.

I expect we can fill the place, but expect people to drop out in the last 3 or 4 weeks as other commitments arise: they always do...

Cheers, Bob.

Spring 2007 weekend meet-Ross-on-Wye

Last week I posted a list of people who expressed an interest in attending the Spring 2007 weekend meet. About half of you half confirmed your intention to attend which will practically fill the hotel recommended. This still leaves about 12 of you who have expressed an interest which if these turn into firm bookings means I need to sort out additional accomodation. I do need to start talking to Hotel(s) soon and I do need a realistic estimate of the numbers. I would be grateful, therefore, if any one who has not yet done so, could let me know on this forum if it is their intention to attend so I can sort out the accomodation next week. The final commitment to attend does not come until you book your hotel room.

The April period is difficult for me and I have no way of knowing my commitments until much nearer the time. At the moment, therefore, it is best to count me out.

Hi Tony I can't confirm till nearer the time as I do shift work and my rota will change in March/April. Don't worry too mauch about accomidation for me as my wife is very resourceful, and will more than likly be with me as she is a very goot assistant. If I can fit in with your arrangement then I will but if things need booked then go ahead excluding me from the numbers.
You're a star or a fool for trying to organize this lot and I hope your effort's dont unrecognized.

If it helps Tony, one hotel I mentioned before is not too far from Pencraig Court...

APUG weekend Hotel

Hi Barry,
I am having a look at the Forest Hotel but their web site is over a year out of date. I have spoken to them but they are closed until March for decorations. I am expecting the owner to ring me back sometime next week. Pencraig Court looks the best bet and I should also get all the details sorted here also next week. Should be able to post by the end of the week the best option for booking.
Tony
