Well done Barry. I agree with Frank, the Green Man looks the better bet, they also have converence facilities, which means that we may be able to hire a smoke free meeting room.

So the questions must be, does this venue suit most of us or has anyone else an idea of a better venue. When do we go, and is anyone prepared to take the lead in talking to them to sort our rates etc?

The Greenman looks fine to me. I spied a couple of hand pumps so it can't be too bad :D

Any of the "OK" dates are fine with me at the moment.

Brian

If it sells Real Ale I'm OK with it! I think I'm OK for pretty much any time except the easter holidays but won't be able to confirm I'm coming until much nearer the time, unfortunately.

See you then (hopefully!)

Rob

Hmmm... before deciding whether to book The Green Man, have a read of the reviews on the following links: http://www.information-britain.co.uk/reviews.php?place=27511 &
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...n_Man_Inn-Hereford_Herefordshire_England.html

I can find no Star rating for the accommodation on their website either; this is normally touted clearly. Does not bode well...

Cheers, Bob.

Thank's for finding those links Bob. Maybe the Green Man is not such a good idea?

I may have the opportunity to visit the area before the end of the year. If so I will need a list of potential venue's. If anyone comes up with any, please post here. It won't be much fun visiting all those Bars, but someone should do it! :D

I should be able to make it if I don't have other commitments as I just passed my driving test this afternoon (3rd attempt in 3 years).
Yes, well done <he said smugly, having passed it the first time>. Mind you, I did nearly run over the man walking in front waving the red flag a couple of times...

Do you know which dates can you do?

Cheers, Bob.

Having missed the last one, I'm watching with a view to trying to fit in with the final choice this time- keep me in mind, please!

Unfortunately, Sean has disabled formatting in posts so I've attached the matrix of dates so far. At the mo, it's looking like April 20-22 with April 27-29 in second place.

Cheers, Bob.

For my own part (and you should obviously place the needs of existing regular APUG-ers before me) I am currently OK for 30/03 & 20/04 only, from the file you attached.

Nice one, Tom! (I was a "third time lucky" too, not that that's much of an advert for it...!)

count me in please

I would like to vote for the w/e of 20-22 April too.

If this ends up as the favoured date - please count me in.

Thanks

Yes, so far as I can see, the 20/22nd April would be fine, if a newcomer may join in? pyrometol

out of all the dates, the 20-22 of april would suit me best too.

Looks like we have a winner. Everyone who has posted can do 20-22nd April with only the following weekend coming close.

Now to sort out some accommodation.... Like others, I have been browsing and I have found a dearth of 3 and 4-Star places of suitable size and price range (say 50 beer tokens or so per person per night). I think you are taking a bit of a gamble with under 3-Stars and most places large enough and not too expensive that I have found are in the 2-Star range.

So far the best I have come across is in fact the one that Barry found right at the start: Pencraig Court Dead Link Removed) ... It has good reviews. May potentially be a little small, but people tend to drop out as the dates get closer due to other commitments. At some point soon we will need to decide on the location to have some hope of grabbing the whole joint (or at least, enough of it) for ourselves, wherever we decide on.

Cheers, Bob.

It's one room bigger than the last place and looks good to me. It gets my vote.

I have just spoken with someone from Pencraig Court to sound out the w/e of the 21/22. They currently do not have any bookings for that weekend.

Barry

I think we should go for this one, especially as it has a non-smoking dining room equipped with a high-chair for Frank.
Interestingly they offer a group discount by negotiation! It should be possible for them to give us a provisional block booking for the whole place open until, say Christmas whilst we sort ourselves out.

There is a direct link to their website which gives a little more information:

Do you want to organise this then, Dave?

I would, but my bib might get in the way...!
