Hmmm.. I'm on Apug several times a day.. at least three, but only log in when making a reply or posting a question.I don't have exact numbers as not every single apug member logs in every single day,

The thing is, the only place I see this being enacted is on APUG. Other sites seem to manage to mix the two without animus resulting. As long as the digital versus analog online wars don't dirty the forums I think this will be a good idea
I wonder how many people rarely log in because they stay logged-in all the time - as I do - that way I can immediately post a reply should I want to (though not often).

For what I know, a web server session will normally expire after a pre-determined time, 5 minutes, 15 minutes or so. That will force the user to log-in again.
Either your browser transparently reloads pages to keep the session open, or it transparently reopens the session.
From the server's point of view a user keeping the site always on top will probably be recorded as making many visits in a day.

I wouldn't... everyone will be calling it "Prinz".![]()
)I've been just a lurker on this forum, this is my first post (hello!).
Had no idea about the financial costs it represented nor the little percentage of subscribers. I've just subscribed...
I have no problem with new forum name (but don't really love it...) or hybrid content as long as knowledge sharing remains as is.
I typically log in several times a day.
Since I access APUG with my phone, I don't log out for weeks or months and glance at APUG throughout the day and night. Only rarely do I log out and even then it's brief.
My wife would tell you I seem to always be here.
I too never log out of APUG, but I do close down my browser and turn off my computer.
When you google apug.org here you get a pug dog or pug dogs at the head of the search
