I had to call and ask for mine again. Then it showed up three days later. Four rolls of 120.

You're about getting something for nothing?

Sounds like you need a 'tude tune up!

Guess I was "disappointed" that I got film that is useless to me. I should have used not . I will find some at work to give the film to.

Perhaps you could find someone who uses 35mm and ask them to buy some 120 and do a swap?

I got my 4 rolls of 35mm ,asked for 120. I have not used 35mm for a few years.
Michael

Seems to me that I specified 120, yet got 35mm also. Probably will sit and expire as i shoot transparency film for color in 35mm.

Okay, this bugs me. Folks complaining because they got the wrong FREE film. Dang, find/borrow a camera that fits the film you got and go have fun. This cost you nothing and should free you up, help you to shoot loose and fancy free. Who knows you may find you like it.

Well, here is the deal, as I see it. The "free film" is supposed to go to professional working photographers, of which I am one. i requested 120 size, because that is the size I might actually use professionally. I could then try it out on my medium format equipment I use to earn money. While it is nice and fun to get "free film", sending 35mm, while great and all, does not give me the information I need to evaluate the film in my professional environment. I certainly have 35mm equipment, but I use it for personal projects, and i prefer to do those personal projects with film stocks other than color negative. So, by not sending out the size requested (and they did have a check box for requesting size), they are reducing their marketing efforts in regards pro users. I'm sure I will find "some" use for the 35mm, if for nothing more than to test out a new batch of mixed up C-41 chemistry before commiting valuable 4x5 negs to the processing. But I cannot tell how a film will look in my Hasselblad, by shooting it on my Nikkormat. As far as amateur/enthusiasts getting free film..yay, great, be happy with whatever you get, go out use it, have fun, make photos, life is good.

Yes to all you say, but, and there is always a but....

You do not rely on free film to conduct your business, do you? So, how have you been "disadvantaged" in this? If the free offer had not been made; you would have bought a few rolls of 120 for evaluation before buying any signficant quantity of it. Correct?

So you are no worse off that you otherwise would be. You are just not as advantaged as you might have been should you have gotten what you requested. In all likelihood Kodak ran throught its allotment of free 120 before they got to you. So, instead of leaving you empty-handed, they made a good faith gesture and sent you the 35mm.

So, as you suggest for us amateurs, I suggest for you: "...yay, great, be happy with whatever you get, go out use it, have fun, make photos, life is good".

And remember, since you don't use 35mm professionally - in that format you too are an "amateur/enthusiast".

Interesting. I still think that there would be more "promotional" value to the free give-away if they matched requests to film size. Again, I am not knocking the concept of free film, no not at all. i got mine. I just can't evaluate it for professional use in regards my studio. I can only shoot it for fun. I will. I won't be purchasing any. Don't use C-41 in 35mm. Maybe shoot it up at Easter of family, or something. Got several hundred rolls of E-6 to go thru first, though for a personal project I am working on.

Maybe it will convert you to 35mm for professional use .

Actually, I agree that it would have been better if everyone who indicated that they used 120, got at least some 120.

I do question, however, whether this was only directed to professionals.

From what I remember, it was also directed to enthusiastic amateurs.

I just wish it was directed to people in Canada .

IIRC, an earlier post indicated that the poster had had a conversation with someone from Kodak who indicated that they had budgeted for approximately 20,000 requests, but instead received 55,000.

I'll accept some confusion and innapropriate responses, if it results from way more interest in film than was initially expected (a good thing, IMHO).

Never got it. Screw 'em....I haven't used Kodak products in over 35 years anyway.

Well, the film finally arrived so I guess I'll give it a try. They sent four thirtysix exposure roll of Portra. 160 & 400 VC and 160 & 400 NC.

I asked for 35mm and got 120. I used it as an excuse to pick up an old Super-Ricohflex tlr.

Well I finally got the Portra film, four rolls of 120 as I requested. I also got a box with 50 sheets of Black and White VC fiber paper in 11x14 size and two containers of Kodak Indicator Stop bath. It was quite a day here now I just need the energy to use it.
