Not quite...
Double-8 stock is the same as 16mm double-.perf., BUT with twice the numbers of perforations.
Aha - I understand - with that films it is allways possible to feed other 16 mm cameras.
Because the camera allways would not care of some more perforation and has not to know about.
But not in other direction of course.
So there is a need of real double 8 rolls because 16mm double perforation would not work.
(THE same is with Europans Mitchel in concern of single perforation with16mm)
In such case the camera would not give up to search its perforation - it would try to print its perforation before malfuntion.
"Film Salate" with expensive rolls has its own bad taste !
Bad times to older cine equipment.....
