Not quite...
Double-8 stock is the same as 16mm double-.perf., BUT with twice the numbers of perforations.

Aha - I understand - with that films it is allways possible to feed other 16 mm cameras.
Because the camera allways would not care of some more perforation and has not to know about.
But not in other direction of course.
So there is a need of real double 8 rolls because 16mm double perforation would not work.
(THE same is with Europans Mitchel in concern of single perforation with16mm)
In such case the camera would not give up to search its perforation - it would try to print its perforation before malfuntion.
"Film Salate" with expensive rolls has its own bad taste !

Bad times to older cine equipment.....

Here’s a camera that takes double-perf film:

Other older models need double-perf stock, Zeiss-Ikon Movikon 16, Bell & Howell Filmo 70s before August 1930, older Paillard-Bolex H cameras, Vitascope Movie Maker, Irwin, Ciné-Kodak, Ciné-Kodak Special, and more. Film perforated two rows allows a number of tricks on the shoot, on editing, and for duplication.

Well I remember such tricks.
From own intention and idea I used a double exposure trick with 16mm.
It was a frame split onto the lens with gaffa tape. (At night shooting - it was working fine - at daylight it might be too much inprecice with gaffa).
The film school wasn't amoused about because of the stop trick in adition? (fast motion)
(O,5 - 1 frame/second)
Or because of several 360 degree pan at the end? :D:laugh::laugh::D
[Night shot of heavy trafic with split in the midt line of the street (in different motion speed each line) in excelent lighting].... too much to that time.
with regards
PS : If I remember correct there was also NO need of double perforation - exeption:
If the intention would have been to let one side of frame splitting standing upside down after rewind the film roll.

Very simply, double perf 16mm is incompatible with Super 16 format. And Super 16 has critical extra image area if the final product is to be shown on current cinema or broadcast formats.

Wow, nine pages in this thread and not a single Verichrome Pan mention?!? As long as it comes out in 116, 122, 127, and 130, I'll be pleased!

Kodak Professional replied tothe a comment on twitter asking when this new mystery film would be available and they straight up said March 2018

They also posted another clue 2 hours ago, some kind of ancient temple with a door that was halfa black half white.

I don't think it's going to be a cine film, it's going to be a photo film, probably 35mm at first.
Thet also said they would already have it at one of the film walks they do, this Sunday.
So we might already know whatif it looks like next week.

I never saw an ARRI SR Super16 in the real world (Moviecam 35mm was a more plesure in the 90th) but this seams to be an actual next issue todays. .....
Feel 16mm has died fresh in cinema .... look in this here (just for waiting meanwile at fridays announcement)

This is a real "suspence" thread - thanks god tomorrow is friday.....
with greetings

Nothing against single-row perforation. I only want to advocate the original form. Both forms should have the right to live. I am a buyer of 2-r 16.
But it is still not working with your older cameras - right ? (single perforated 16mm)

PS : Mitchel cameras were often used in the UK in early bbc productions - I was told about.
But Ilford do not serve 16mm films any more:cry:

We should tell Kodak that we all will buy this new film if it is avaible in march18.
Nevertheless we don't know today wich film it has to be.......
But then we can get a special price

on oneof these twitter feed it is the romanesque building+door, and a box of 35mm tri x
that captioned " we never left. were here first." ...
they are re-introducing tri x ?? they never stopped production of it ..
new formulation even closer to tmy ?

maybe the big surprise is ... they are going ot ADVERTISE THEIR PRODUCT ???

I even do not know what a film walk is at all...

Neither do I know of throne games. Likely I'm not belonging to those Kodak Alaris is heading at. Now we of course could argue whether this is good for Alaris or not...

Kodak since a few months ago is organizing walks around certain cities with film photographers from those cities, they give out film to the people who come with them, I follow Kodak on Instagram and i've seen a few now.

Wake me up when this is over. All this anxiety-speculation is making me sleepy!

If it's "Vintage Vegas," which came into wide spread prominence in the 1960's, and it's already been stated that it's not Ektachrome or Kodachrome related, it clearly must be the re-release of films in 126 format!

This sounds more how how Kodak used to function. I think that would be good for them. Someone at Kodak seems to have woken up to the fact that film is a small (compared to years ago) but viable product that with some promotion would re-gather a following. An Ilford sized Kodak might be a good thing.

Where do they announce these walks?
