Kodak Alaris is shipping replacement packages, mine shipped today (even though my batch turned out to be ok).
My new message of support!

Just one more data point. I recently mixed up a batch of Xtol from the exact date in question, and it works perfectly. No issues whatsoever.

I just received some replacement packets of XTOL for some bad batch packets that made it into my queue of XTOL to use And there are some differences.

the bad batch has the A and B backers taped together and the two packets are the newer white plastic bags.

the new replacement XTOL has the same two white plastic A and B bags, but instead of them being taped together, they’re both put insider of another larger white plastic bag that is also sealed (see crappy cellphone pictures above), interesting. Makes me wonder if the single bags taped together were stressing the welded seems enough that they weren’t as airtight as initially thought.

I haven't used any XTOL since I had a 3 month old batch die on me awhile back. No advantage to using it from my perspective. Perhaps if I had been using it for quite some time I would feel different but that was my first, and last, time working with it.

HC110 and Rodinal last halfway to forever and I mix my other developers fresh.

it generally gives more toe speed than other developers and subjectively gives a nicer grain pattern, though if your preference is different, there’s nothing wrong with that either.

Thanks Adrian. Not typically a problem I worry too much about and if I do there are other solutions.

I just mixed a new batch of Xtol and I did a roll yesterday, came out thin, undeveloped and full of crapola! I chalked it up to I messed the time (which I did). Today I did 2 rolls of P3200 ( I did not mess up the time this time). Same thing. Granted it's a tad expired, 2/23 but I never had this issue before. So bad batches are still out there. Also part A never fully dissolved. I am wondering if the "old style" bag cat 516 0361 will be ok even if it too is expired 10/2020? Ugh. 3 rolls gone, poof! Has there been problems with newer batches? Thanks!

In the bottom right hand corner of the packaging it says; made by Boeing!
Time to find another developer?

Yeah, made by Boeing... I am sadly ending my long love affair with Xtol. I fear it will never be true again. Trying the Adox Xt3 and the Legacy Pro stuff works well as well.

Shame really.
I only tried XTOL once and really liked it.
Due to my low volume film processing I risked dividing it up into 1 litre batches and it worked!

There's no reason to abandon Xtol - just don't use expired chemistry. It's 15 months past its expiration date, so....

Yes to not using expired chems, but it was one of the batches posted by Kodak as being bad, 2/27/2020. "If you have XTOL Catalog #1058338 with the following Date Codes: 2019/10/07, 2019/12/19, 2020/02/25, 2020/02/26, 2020/02/27".

I have used 35 year old canned Kodak D76 and Accufine with success.
I just wish I could buy Accufine again.
Still seems off opening a developer with a can opener.

Hey Meow7, have you still got the rehoused Komica lens? You mentioned you had one in a post in 2017!
