110/16mm Camera Image Quality

Wow Huss, that came out really nice. I wish Lomography wouldn't burn that border onto each frame of their film, you can see how you had more image than that border allowed.

PS: Do you process your own color film Huss, or do you send it out. And if you send it out, who did you send the 110 film to, to have it processed?

Thanks Tim! I send out my color film. I was using Mikes Camera when I temporarily was in Sacramento and they were great. This was developed by Paui's Photo in Torrance but I will now be mailing it to North Coast Photo as while Paul's is great for everything else, they charge double the price for 110 as compared to 35 or 120.

Compare the quality of the Lomo film vs the Fukkatsu....

Chiyoda Minolta 16 f4 @ 1/50; FPP Sonic 12 reversal in D-19

Same as above with 4 minutes in the first developer instead of 7. Scanned & photographed freehand through the loupe, respectively.

There's a Mamiya 16 De Luxe (non-EE version) w/ cassette headed my way as of this afternoon. It'll be my first non-Minolta 16mm camera; hopefully it doesn't disappoint!

It's going to be a little while before I have any more results as I am no longer using my local shop to dev my 110. They are now charging $14 just for dev! 35mm color is $8.. So I am waiting until I have a bunch of rolls shot, then will send to northcoastphoto as they charge I think $7-$8.

Costco back in the day used to charge $1.86 for dev only. This was maybe 10 years ago when they still processed film. Le sigh.

Local place back in the day did .99 for dev and double prints.

If the market will bear it... hopefully it's an indication in an uptick in volume and not just inflation. Definitely still cheaper than what I would charge, even if I could provide a quality guarantee.

Some 16mm 50D from last summer; free-lensing w/ a wide converter.

Those were the days, weren't they? I lived pretty close to a Costco. Drop off the film, do some shopping, maybe get a hot dog then pick up the film. They used to give me all their empty cassettes too for bulk loading.

This thread reminds me I have a few rolls to develop. The couple 110 rolls I've done so far were pretty bad. Old Fuji film, then I scanned them on a flatbed which didn't help much of course. Maybe next time I'll camera scan them. I just shoot it for fun though. Ektramax camera.

I know we are off topic now but even to the day my local Costco pulled the plug on film, they were backed up w so much film to develop. I was told that other Costcos had no demand for it, so they wanted all to have the same (lack of) offerings.

What kind of car is that Huss? I thought it was a Cobra from the rear, but the side view isn't quite like one, and that GTO stands out. I can't imagine a Cobra having that on it. Then there's that license tag, and all I can think of is maybe it's something to do w/ Don "The Snake" Prudhomme's dragster days?

Anyway, great shot, and of a race car from when they looked and sounded like real race cars. I can't watch F1 anymore, they've just ruined it, at least Indy cars are still loud and scary.

Many years ago I had a $1 plastic 110 camera on a keychain, and whatever B&W film was available back in the 80's. The lab gave me back the prettiest little B&W prints you ever saw, everyone said "You took these with that camera!!?"

Thanks! I think it is 'just' some type of 1967 Cobra, the GTO just seems to be a large decal, he put a bunch of them on the car.
I'm just guessing that the plate Cobra 67 was already taken..

Looks like a modified exhaust, non-Shelby tetraethyllead cobra ripe for a highway 1 cruise and an insurance adjustor

I received the Mamiya 16 De Luxe today, and boy oh boy is it a chonker. Twice the size of a Minolta 16/ii and three times as heavy. It contained a partially exposed cassette and an additional sealed coffin of Plus-X 160 (develop before June 1964!). The slow speeds (1/5, 1/10s) are accurate and PC connector is also functional. Possibly a contender to dethrone my black MG-s for stealth use, but that remains to be seen.

I was only able to salvage about a frame and a half from the exposed cassette. Here's to bowling!

Huss, may I ask, did you know the letters would be cropped like that when you framed the image? Curious about the viewfinder on those Rollei A110s. I do think having the whole rebate showing has worked well on these two shots.

I checked ebay for Rollei A110s recently and was surprised how expensive they are - wonder if that indicates and increase in popularity of 110.

Framing is accurate with the A110. The only time I have issues is when I get close and sometimes I bungle the parallax correction. But that's on me.

The A110 can be pricey, but I just put a search notification for when I got mine, and waited until affordable ones showed up. Back in the day they were crazy expensive cameras new.

I avoided the E110 model as it only has 3 shutter speeds and does not expose correctly with modern batteries. The A110 works absolutely fine with modern batteries - its circuitry adjusts for the voltage difference.

I like this version more with the dood in red matching the traffic light. What is interesting is you can now directly compare fresh Lomo Tiger to 10 yr old Fuji Superia 200!

Try the E110. Basically the same camera except the E110 has a kind of aperture priority.
