The thing is, direct sun portraiture is rarely attractive even with print film; with slide, yikes.

A basic issue is that the colour temp in the shade is different from that in the sun. If you have a mix, you are not going to solve that problem with any filter. It will shift both. The best slide film for mixed light, hands down, is astia. Hear me now, believe me later.

Rudeofus, is your output analogue (ilfochrome)? Or are you planning to project these? Otherwise I'd shoot normally on astia and slightly adjust warmth afterwards.

Yup, some time ago I posted some shots here from panatomic x dated before my birth and they were fine. The film was stored at room temp. A bit of fog but no big deal. I've also used coated plates from the late 60s, they give low contrast but... kinda cool actually.

Why not just make up half rolls from the 220. Easy to do, you just need an extra spool and some paper (which I typically keep when I develop rolls myself).
With the 120 backs I use, the lack of backing paper hasn't produced any problems when running 220 through. That's not a guarantee, mind you!
I have the 45 N and like it. But in my opinion the 55/2.8 is superior in terms of colour rendition. If you shot b&w though, you won't see much -if any- difference.
Given the closeness of the prcies, I'd say go for the newest lens.
It's unfortunate that the backing for the instant b&w films is so horribly non-transparent, otherwise you could flip it over and do a contact print to make another neg.
Also, my various attempts to get the emulsion off the b&w films have not worked, so far. With the fp100c it's easy, but not...
