Impact of AI on wildlife photo competitions and conservation

Actually Artificial Intelligence existed way before that. Alan Turing conceived of a test to determine whether Artificial Intelligence had been achieved in the 1940's.

    Worst mistakes

I prefer the acronym Operator Assisted Failure ==> OAF Usage: The oaf poured in the fixer, emptied the tank and then the oaf poured in the developer.

I have found that developer first produces much better than fixer first. I too have made that mistake once but not in such a specular fashion nor with such flair.

    120 6x6 frame spacing

My Hasselblad repair man loads a spare roll of 120 film in the back with the dark slide removed. He advances the film to the first frame, takes a ball point pen and traces the outline of the frame on the paper. He advances the frame and repeats the process for each frame. Then he unloads the...

    Do Glasses/Contact Lens Affect Focusing?

It all comes down to the lens prescription and how it was filled. I preferred contact lenses to eye glasses. I have had excellent progressive eye glass lenses that worked well with all types of eye glasses. The same with single vision and bifocal lenses. I have one implanted lens from a...

What's your latest new old camera ? (Part 2)

I get a pleasurable feeling every time a package gets delivered. If I go long enough between receiving packages, I start chasing USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL trucks that do not stop at my building up the street. I do not know what I will ever do if and when I actually catch a truck. :P

Impact of AI on wildlife photo competitions and conservation

Thank you. I was able to read the article directly. I have had similar concerns since the doctored photograph of the shark jumping out of the water attacking a rescue helicopter appeared on the internet years ago.

Looking for a Stiff/Sturdy Tripod Head for my Pentax 67II to Avoid Dreaded Shutter Shake

I like the Induro carbon fiber tripods. It is important to select a tripod that is "rated" for more than the weight equipment that you plan to use on it. I use a factor of two heavier. When I use a lower rated weight I have had shaking and wind vibration problems.

Please note that is not the same "white gas" as the unleaded gas of the mid twentieth century, so do not swap the usage.

"White gas" is the name used in the mid twentieth century in the US as unleaded gasoline.

    About the Screws

I have found hard to source screws at industrial hardware stores. Sourcing small machine screws such as the JIS type are still hard to locate. Work bench practices such as putting all small parts in glass bowls or jars helps prevent loss of those parts.

I really need to take my Pacemaker Speed Graphic with a 135mm lens out for more exercise. And then there are all the flash bulbs I bought for it and never used.

Folding rubber lens shade repair suggestions needed

I suggest that you cover the original hood with thin pieces of cloth on both side glued on with a very thin layer of Gorilla Glue which is flexible. Let that dry for 24 hours and then put something like the product below on it.

Are the import duties and VAT on owned equipment that has been repaired? I would expect that on new or used equipment purchased. If so, fly out to Los Angeles, take it to Hasselblad and you can stay at my place while you wait for the repair.

That is my experience. For some reason the brain is wired to "see" better in a darkroom or with a changing bag then with the eyes open. It works and I use it.

What was your last digital photography related purchase?

My decision was between the Nikon D850 and the Nikon Z7 ii and using my Nikon F AF lenses. I was advised by my friend, a retired Kodak employee and recently returned from a trip to Antarctica to buy the Z7 ii because it has vibration control. Then after I ordered the Z7 ii and before it...
