I used to worry about the cost of fixing things, but at this point in my life I would rather have it fixed and be able to use it, rather than have the camera or anything else sit and be unused. Beside with camera repair people retiring and becoming harder to find, someone must help keep them...
XTOL and its equivalents have the following characteristics which you may find useful: fine grain, smooth tonality, sharpness and is a very forgiving developer.
C-41 has a broader Subject Brightness Range than E-6 and therefore more shadow depth is possible. That allows C-41 allows one to have a usable exposure that is not required to be exactly on or very close to the exact exposure.
I have tried several developers and found that XTOL or its equivalents is very forgiving, has better tonality, finer grain, and sharper than most other developers as well as provide a small ISO boost. I also like PyroCat HD with Glycerin.
My Hasselblad repairman recommends, and I follow, firing every lens 10 to 15 times at 1 second every three months to avoid needing the lenses worked on. I have my computer/iPhone calendar to remind me.
I had a Mamiya C330 with three lenses which I traded for the Hasselblad. It would be counter productive for me to buy any Mamiya lenses since I do not have any Mamiya bodies.
If you used PhotoFlo mixed per the instructions and you still have streaking, then the problem may be your local water. In that case use distilled water for the final wash. Others will have solutions [pun intended] using isopropyl alcohol. Please do not refer to isopropyl alcohol as IPA...
I standardized on CF lenses, and I agree with your your comments and find all the Hasselblad lenses sharper than any other equivalent focal length lenses that I have used.
Thank you for your work. If you could cross reference threads on Photrio and elsewhere then it would be great if this thread were made a reference source on Photrio, that would make finding repair information much easier for Photrio members and subscribers.
Thank you very much for this post. Finding places for Hasselblad 200 series repairs has become difficult and any active sources are greatly appreciated.
